Will you be attending the Game Show Congress which is tentatively planned for November 14 - 15?
-
It's easy for me to participate -- all I have to do is drive over the hill, assuming they don't call me in to work either day.
-
No. I generally don't go out much.
/The papparazzi and all.
-
Can't. Job prevents taking vacay during sweeps months.
/Not counting July
-
What, no vote for "maybe"?
I wouldn't even have to drive over the hill...but my attendance depends on cost and if there are any compelling events. (Lunch with people from this forum: probably compelling, maybe even more so if it's not an official GSC event.)
-
I was all for coming until I found out the only food being served was Rice-A-Roni; the San Francisco Treat.

This is not a problem.
/loves Rice-A-Roni
-
Not this year. I hope I can attend next year.
-
Would love to attend. GSC can't be that nerdy... ;)
-
Oh; if only I weren't a lowly grad student who's going to San Francisco in January for a math conference and needs to save up for that (talk about nerdy!)...
I'm hoping that I'll be able to go to the next one, though (if there is a next one...fingers crossed!).
To everyone that will go, though: I hope y'all have double the pleasure and double the fun for me! :D

A regretful "no" this time around -- no time or money.
-
Sorry, no can do. Not when my oldest niece's birthday just happens to fall on that Sunday. Oh well.
-
Well, if Karlberg's out, I'm out.
-

Well if both y'alls are out, I'd better question my own participation.
NOT!
-
Sorry, I have to stock the produce section that weekend.
-
Would that I could. Bad timing.
-
I'd love to, but it's two weeks after my honeymoon. Kinda using my vaca time for that.
.....unless YOU wanna ask her if we can postpone our trip. Go ahead, I'll wait for your answer.
-
3000 miles away over a lot of mountains. And the money thing too.
-

To be fair, though, it's not as though you'd be taking llamas.

Also: Feels left out. (http://\"http://chtei.homestead.com/Lorenzo_Lamas_Dec_2006.jpg\")
-
Finances won't permit it. (Chances are, neither would my work schedule.) I wish ...
-
I really want to, particularly since I haven't seen most of you since 2006 (my honeymoon, remember?) and the fact that it's just a Saturday-Sunday event [yes, I do realize this is all tentative] would be a help breaking away from work, but we're finally bouncing back after a soft year on the income front {thankfully, I shoved ultra-sums into the savings account during my years as a university employee} that as much as Bev and I would love to be with you again, I can't justify breaking into the piggy bank for this. If the $207M Mega ticket I hold in my hand pays off, however, we're there. I hope it happens and I hope a lot of you get to go and take bunches of pictures.
If Anitra Ford is attending, forget what I said above. I'll just sell my car for airfare and lodging.
-
If the $207M Mega ticket I hold in my hand pays off, however, we're there.
What he said (sort of).
-
The timing stinks, no can do. :( Maybe next year.
-
If the $207M Mega ticket I hold in my hand pays off, however, we're there. I hope it happens and I hope a lot of you get to go and take bunches of pictures.
Remember, if it is a winner, 1% goes to The Ohio University Game Show Appreciation Society. $2.07M is a heck of a write-off.
-
Would like to, but I pretty much spent all my leave on NYC...
Perhaps we could plan a Game Show Forum convention outisde of this, some sort of annual affair a la the old GSCs. Varying said event geographically would be nice too. Any interest?
-
I'd be down for that. I always wondered whatever happened to those.
-
L.A. suits me to a tee as well as many in the game show fan community who live here.
-
I'll probably be taking college classes during that period, and I already reserved my one "trip to famous spot" location for Seattle for the Penny Arcade Expo in a week. So no.

First time? You're in for a treat. (I'm hoping the cap on three-day passes this year has at least somewhat of an effect.)
-
No.
-
Since 11/14-15 is a weekend, it's going to be a challenge for me to attend this. I will try my best though.
-
I will be coming to GSC this November with a friend if that is all right.
Take care and thank you.

The GSC 7 Legends reception and awards presentation will take place beginning at 2pm on Sunday November 15th at Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn Hotel in North Hollywood, CA. The event will begin with Geoff Edwards being honored for the Ralph Edwards Career Community Service award and finish with Allen Ludden being honored for the Bill Cullen Career Achievement Award with Betty White accepting in his memory.
The previous day (Sat Nov 14), and on Sunday morning in different rooms there will be competition in a variety of historic and new game show formats (presented by cast of characters, with many on these boards able to comment on same), as well as a specific seminar for potential contestants on how to properly audition for shows, presented by contestant coordinator Bev Pomerantz (with support from various successful contestants reporting on their experiences). That segment will be immediately followed by a NEW just added segment - Tom Kennedy and his "Wonderful World of Game Shows" presentation
More information will be posted over the coming weeks at www.gameshowcongress.net - link for lodging discount is up. Still working on the $, but very affordable $50-60 range for the entire weekend, or $20 for the awards reception only (not luncheon, but with light refreshments). If you can't attend and want the 7th edition printed program mailed to you with shipping included it will be $12 (with a bonus of the 6th edition program included for the first 50 orders).
Regarding the program - for anyone who has ideas for organizations who can help underwrite the event by putting an advertisement in the program - the rate card can be found at http://www.gameshowcongress.net/GSC7RateCard.pdf (http://\"http://www.gameshowcongress.net/GSC7RateCard.pdf\")

Depends on job load and fares from DC to LA (got a free place to stay at my sister's house)

I'm interested in going. I can fly free so airfare isn't the issue, I'm just wondering though if I can just buy a pass for the Saturday session (to justify it as an education investment :D) and see how cheap I can stay and eat there. Yes I am in college so thats why I'm looking to go as cheap as possible. :D

Due to circumstances beyond my control, financially, Me and my friends are unable to attend Game Show Congress this year. But, I promise, we will be attending the 2010 GSC.
Sorry to disappoint you all. But I look forward to seeing everybody there next year.
Take care.
All my best,

I'd love to be out there... anyone feel like paying airfare and hotel accommodations for me? Also, I'd need a rental car... maybe a Caddy. The Cimarron is a fine automobile.

For the visits, the only one that has a "group" entry would be The Price Is Right, so if we get 20 we could do that - otherwise information is at http://www.cbs.com/daytime/the_price_is_right/tickets/ (http://\"http://www.cbs.com/daytime/the_price_is_right/tickets/\")
For Jeopardy everyone interested should get tickets at http://tvtix.com/show.php?eventID=26&scheduleID=16512 (http://\"http://tvtix.com/show.php?eventID=26&scheduleID=16512\")
For the game competition - everyone can participate. The concept here is competition training - so that people can get practice with a variety of formats that can help with existing or new games and how to play them. Get in touch with the tournament director Travis Schario - travxavier at yahoo dot com. There also is a contestant audition seminar by casting director Bev Pomerantz so that you can "Ace" the audition.

Gotta tell ya, Bev is a hoot and one of the best in the biz at contestant casting. More exciting for me is when she and I get to talk about the good ole Goodson days. Ask her about Concentration and the other classics!
Just 3 weeks away, I'm really looking forward to GSC. On a personal note, now that I've taken hiatus from the past 6 years of a ton of traveling with TPiR-Live, I'll have a chance to participate in more than the awards function. Hope to see ya there.
Thanks for bringing our extended family together, Paul!

Lots of pending RSVPs still not ready to be announced, but you can count on Betty White, Tom Kennedy and the most successful creator of all time, Bob Stewart to be there and approachable.
After the awards ceremony, the hottest ticket is the Saturday night presentation by Tom.

Well I was going to go, but I found out my sister's performance in her school's rendition of Chicago is that weekend and if I skip that then lets just say any stories you read about my death being a suicide is false. LOL
If anyone can send me notes from the acing an audition workshop, I'd appreciate it.
-
Spoke with Tom Kennedy who's got his presentation set for Saturday night. I'm looking forward to seeing this, and looking forward to talking about Johnny Olson with his many friends and fans.
Did you know that Tom Kennedy's mother was a fan of Johnny's? Tom remembers the smile on his mom's face while she enjoyed listening to Johnny's biggest radio hit "Ladies Be Seated". Nice ;-)
The brightest mind in games (TPiR, TTTT, Password, etc) will be on hand for the awards ceremony as Betty White accepts for Allen Ludden, Sunday. See ya there!

I wish, but no.

Quick question: do those of us who are hosting the tournament have to register for the gold package, or can we just register for silver?

Some more specifics are being finalized - thought I'd share for those interested.
Betty White, Geoff Edwards, Tom Kennedy, Bob Stewart and David Michaels will all be speaking at the awards reception on Sunday - Steve Beverly (Da Prefessa) and I will be hosting. There will be great video of our honorees, and a special video cut for the occasion by a huge NY game show host / TV star(!)
While some appearances are still being confirmed, expect to see some of your favorite panelists / celebrity players in da house! Come if you can, meet some legends, and we'll talk about Johnny Olson! More info to come!
