Hi, there. As a kid that had cable back in the early '90s (from about 1990 to 1994), I fondly remember coming home from school in the afternoon and tuning in to USA's awesome game show block. The only thing is I really can't remember the order in which the shows were aired during the afternoons... Can anyone help? It would be much appreciated.

The lineups generally changed in January and September, so I will put a slash to note that the show took over that time slot in Sept.
3pm-1990 Tic Tac Dough/Hollywood Squares.
1991 Hollywood Squares
1992-Hollywood Squares
1993-$25,000 Pyramid/Press Your Luck
3:30-1990-$25,000 Pyramid
1991-$25,000 Pyramid/Scrabble
1992-Scrabble
1993-$100,000 Pyramid/Scrabble
4:00-1990-Press Your Luck
1991-Press Your Luck/$25,000 Pyramid
1992-$25,000 Pyramid
1993-$25,000 Pyramid
4:30-1990-High Rollers
1991-High Rollers/Press Your Luck
1992-Press Your Luck
1993-$100,000 Pyramid

Quick addendum: From Jan to Sept.93 the 4pm hour was non-game show programming.
-
From c. spring or summer 1990 (from what I can remember), all times EST.
12:30pm: Name That Tune (Lange)
1pm: Chain Reaction
1:30pm: Bumper Stumpers
2pm: Wipeout
2:30pm: Face the Music (?)
I'm almost positive that the 1-3pm slots looked like that, but keep in mind I'm going off of a 19-year memory. ;-)
-
Fall 1992:
1:30pm: $ale of the Century
2:00pm: The Joker's Wild (Finn)
Spring 1993:
2:30pm: Tic Tac Dough (Wayne)
In summer 1994 Quiksilver and Free-4-All debuted in the 5:00pm hour.

Anything before 3 was probably before his school got out, so I didn't list them.

And this definitely shows the variety GSN could offer today. Look at how many of these games vanished after their USA and/or CBN run. Not to mention a few others like Caesars Challenge, Play the Percentages, Make Me Laugh, Anything for Money, etc. It would seem these would be available on the cheap, which I'm sure would make GSN happy on their daytime schedule.

What was on before 3:00p? I know Hot Potato and Win, Lose or Draw was involved, right? ;-)

Hot Potato aired at 12:30 or 1:30 pm (I believe the latter)
Win, Lose, or Draw aired IIRC at 2:30 pm c. 1991-92.

While I'd love to see a show like Caesar's Challenge on GSN as I thought it was a decent show, it will probably never happen. How many people besides us remember the show today? GSN won't even air most of what they already have in the vault, so I doubt these much shorter-run shows will ever find a home there.

Yes, I definitely agree, but it would add a little variety to the lineup. A person can only stand so many runs of Feud. I've always wondered if they would attempt a checkerboard schedule(like the prime time access games from the 70s), if ratings would be decent. You could do 10 games in a specific hour per week. Monday pair Caesars w/ Wipeout, Tues. NtT and Face the Music, etc.. On the other hand, maybe folks are beasts of habit now and expect to see Wheel EVERY night at 6:30 and would be confused by this. It would give an extended run to shows that lasted less than a year. Who knows, some of the better shows, like Caesars, might pick up a new fan base. Just a dream that will more than likely stay that way, unless I find a way to nab that programmer's gig at GSN.

We have some incredible members with the ability to do research. It was great simply reading the line-ups of those great old shows. But I have some fuzzy memory of "All Star Blitz" being part of that line-up at some point. Was I mistaken?

I don't think you've been mistaken, assuming this old newsgroup post from '97 has some merit to it. (http://\"http://groups.google.com/group/alt.tv.game-shows/browse_thread/thread/ebe30be6268c857b/b119057662384935?q=USA+Network+%22Couch%22#b119057662384935\")

Not at all. The first show I saw when my family signed up for cable in 1986 was All Star Blitz on USA.

Ah, now those were the glory days. USA also had MML and GONG in their arsenal for a while as well.
/Wish I had actually had cable at that point. My community was verrr-rrry slow in that regard.

No. In this area, it was preempted for special airings of Courtney is in the Kitchen.

Vaguely...I know it aired in the afternoons around 2 or 2:30 in the late-80s. I remember the 1989 Geoff Edwards version better.

I didn't want to go beyond the scope of the original question, so anything before 90 and after 93 was not included.
