Title: G2T2
Post by: plinkoplus on March 23, 2009, 09:00:10 AM
Hey,

Just out of curiosity.  How does one go about building a G2T2 from the Original Card Sharks with Jim Perry.  I am interested in both versions of it.  It'd be a nice piece of game show history in my house.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Chris Kennedy

Um, I'm hoping you realize that you're not really going to get anything more specific here than "you know that stand you see on TV? Make that." or a) Buy wood and / or acrylic. b) ??????? c) Profit!!

Hello Chris, this sounds like a fun hobby/project.

I'm not very mechanically inclined, but I'd say start with a good solid base, maybe some 2 by 4s in an "X" pattern to give it stability.  Then another post leading up to the spinning part that houses the questions.  You could perhaps use some kind of plexiglas or something to place the question cards in.  As for the 2nd version used, the question cards lit up, and that would take a bit more doing I'm afraid.  Jim held some kind of knob or something in the top part of G2T2 to spin it around from game 1 to game 2 and game 3 as well.  I suspect once they began using the lighted question cards, that portion was made not to turn, and only the game # had to be turned manually by Jim.  You know, talking about this, I just now realized that Jim's version had the game # on the G2T2 podium, while Eubanks/Rafferty did not have that.

Good luck w/this project Chris, I'd love to see pictures of it when you finish creating it!

Bill

Oh, I must ask you one last question.

How did G2T2 make its entrance at the beginning of each match?

Thanks again,
Chris

It slid out on a track in sync with the contestant podium.

Hey, wouldn't it just be easier to steal the one in Bob Boden's house? He won't notice it's gone under all that laundry.
