TVshowsondvd.com has announced that American Gladiators will be coming to DVD and will be released on July 14th. This could be a good sign for game shows on DVD if this does well. Here's the link.

Ooh, like, the *good* American Gladiators, too. Including Malibu's pwnage. I am intrigued. :)

My younger self would have loved the ability to slow-mo Lace.

Your older self probably has a better chance with Lace's older self.

We have more info from this review (http://\"http://tvshowsondvd.com/r/8897\"): it's only the second half of the season, but we do get the highlights episode from the first half. There are commentaries on the highlights show, the first preliminary round, the final quarterfinals round, and the finals round, along with a 10-minute interview with Billy Wirth(!).

It makes a little sense- the first part of that first season was wildly different than the 2nd half (it was very darkly lit, Joust and Powerball were done under different rules, and the scoring was weird..)- most people probably don't remember that era. It also cuts the amount of discs they need as well...

For some reason, that doesn't stop ESPN Classics from showing the first 12 episodes, nor does it stop YouTube from featuring them on their AmericanGladiators channel.

My guess is that there are different categories of distribution rights at work there.

Faulty logic at work, there.

I don't disagree, but at the same time you can't tell me with 100% certainty that the game show sets were what killed BCI. They were hardly their only product.
