Title: More TPIR production staff cuts?

And one post in this makes me wonder if they are shopping for a new announcer? Hey, Rich wasn't my first choice for announcer, but it wouldn't make sense to fire him. They've basically made him the poster boy for TPIR, and 2 and 2 don't make 4.

I think Rich will be around for some time to come.

Definitely. No reason to believe that they'd...well, have a reason to fire him regardless of what you may or may not think about him.

FPGWillyT's opinions aside, of course.

It seems that, out of the TPiR clips/episodes I've seen this season, they've gone out of their way to incorporate him more into the Showcases. It just seems strange to cut him loose after all that effort.

And in Friday's show, they brought back the old Announcer-Calling-Contestant shot (which I thought was neat).  Just because some fans think he doesn't have talent doesn't mean he is or should be on the chopping block.

Also, there still is that recession thing going on, in theory.

I thought that was neat, too. A nice retro thing to add, very classy.

However, I think that the "Announcer-Calling-Contest" is the only time we should be seeing Rich during the course of the show, with the exception of the occasional facetime at close. I think he is too overexposed at this point. WRT Rich (who I think is doing a great job lately), everyone knew who Rod Roddy was without it being shoved down our throats every day.

Rich doesn't bother me as much as he did when he first got the gig.  Maybe it's because I've gotten used to his pronunciation of "NEW CAAHHHHH".

However on the local ads for the TPIR scratch offs,  I'm still trying to get used to him pronouncing our state as CAAH-LAAH-RAAH-Doe for the Colorado Lottery.

You'll never get used to it.

Rich is not in any danger, at least as far as any of us know.  Willy was posting a personal opinion that isn't based on anything that's happened on the air.

I hate to double post, but if you guys wanna check that thread again, Eddie Walker pretty much burned his bridges just now to explain exactly what happened.

Honestly, it seems that the more I learn about the show and the backstage crap the harder it is to actually enjoy the damn thing come 11. TheKid back at GSN forums used to express that sentiment all the time, and I never entirely understood it until just now.

Eh.  Drama happens.  It's pretty much a side-effect of being part of pretty much any organization.

My new question is that if Rich has so much stacked against him, who or what's keeping him on the air?  Is the apple cart truly that fragile?

People are reading WAAAAAAAY too much into the remarks attributed to Rich. He simply made a prediction about Roger's future prospects in the industry, a prediction which is not totally unfounded.

Rich is being seen more and more on the show, so what do you think?

I think he'd better not ask Drew for a raise.

I don't think Drew is in the position to grant him a raise.

They'd have to fire a few people to grant that raise.

Rich didn't start appearing on camera more (or having a bigger role, in general) until the Drewcases got rolling. Then there were the more elaborate IUFB (or is it now PUFB?) intros. Now Rich models the occasional prize, shows up in more conventional Showcases, and now is seen at the beginning of the show when Drew says "Hi!" to him. To me, it looks like they were putting out their feelers, making a genuine effort to establish an on-camera relationship between host and announcer, something that hasn't been seen since before Rod got sick. From that point to now, the role of announcer has been that of Disembodied Voice, with the occasional glimpse for birthdays. I have my own guess as to who was to blame for that, since the "Fremantle policy" argument has been shot to pieces.

Now I'm hoping that a similar effort will be made to increase the interaction between Drew and the five remaining models. The dancing at the top of the show is nice, but they still don't do that much with Drew during the rest of the show.

For what it's worth, John says Roger greenlighted Rich being on-air before he was fired.

That sentence makes no sense. Rich has always been "on-air". Do you mean "on camera"? And before who was fired? I presume you mean Roger but the way your sentence is written it's ambiguous.

This is the exact quote from ClockgameJohn at Golden-road:

P.S.  I do know that Roger, prior to his departure, was the one who greenlighted Rich's on camera appearances for the beginning Season 37.
