I relieved a letter today saying my question had been used and I had won $739. I'm 3-3, which is great!
I thought it was interesting, though, that the show date given was 4-2-09. I wonder if they are shutting down operations operations and trying to get all of the prize money out. I didn't think any prizes would be awarded until the show actually aired.
In any event, I'll take the check. Two of questions aired in October, and I already received one check!
-
Yep. I've gotten three "letters from the future". $591 on 2/24, $728 from 3/27 and $550 on 4/6. In addition to my $652 on 11/4 and $522 from 11/12, I've enjoyed this show to a tune of $3,043.

That beats my $1900+. I wish I would have done more questions!
Have you received any of the "future" checks yet?

What was the turnaround between when you sent the signed claim forms back to TP:AP and when you got your check?

It was about 3-4 weeks from when I sent my paperwork back and received the first check.
I sent the the second form back a week after the first, but still have yet to receive the 2nd check, so I've been waiting over 4 weeks for that check.

Gotta say, for nothing more than submitting "quality" content, that's pretty good.
I wonder if these payouts are what they are saving on WGA writers for questions.

Shouldn't this be in the spoiler section? :)

I hope you not saying that the show might be coming to an end,but the ratings are at 0.6. Does that mean that it could be cancelled soon?
-
Well, Temptation hovered around an 0.5 and got axed. Crosswords hovered around an 0.8 [but managed to reach 1.0 a couple of times] and "stayed". So, who knows, really. If I had to bet, though, I'd say we won't see it make another season.

Glad you all are enjoying your winnings from submitting great questions. Keep submitting questions, and don't make assumptions based on what is currently happening (receiving notification letters prior to air).
-
Along the lines of TP:AP and the ratings, is anyone aware of time period changes for the show in your market? Have you seen more or less ads for the show then say beginning of November? Just curious...

I opined on the GSN board that the reason people are getting notifications about shows in March and April is because the powers that be want to deal with the accounting end of the business before the end of 2008.

Can you have less than zero ads? Even Temptation had more than TP:AP, as I saw 5-second ads twice last season. With the number of people from Northeast Ohio who have had questions used on TP:AP, I'm surprised WOIO hasn't done a brief news story about it or done any promotion for it. I've done more promotion for TP:AP in my classroom, and that's to a bunch of 9th graders who didn't care about me being on the show more than how much I won and could potentially spend on them.

I've seen quite a few promos on Peachtree TV now and then. Also, OMNI 2 has been showing several ads.

So at least I'm not the only one this has been happening to. I just got a letter yesterday for a show on March 18 where I'm going to win $664 (now up to $1379, 2-3 in wins, at least 2-0 in stumps).
At first my friend Robert was guessing it was a tax issue, but suddenly that cancellation idea was more likely. This then leads me to ask if you guys would rather see the show continue so we can keep on reaping these nice little rewards. (After all, it's nice to finally call myself as a game show champion now, even if in the backhanded sense.)
PS: Those of you in the first-run only markets will see me next on Christmas Eve. (Did the math based on when the reruns started.)

Are they going to pick another contestant from the Pogo.com version of the game to be part of the show? I didn't have an account at the time they did so. The Daily 20 seems like a nice game (for them, no less), and doesn't take forever to play. I am still slipping up on doing the current day's game in the same day. At least you can go back on the calendar and pick up the ones you missed.

As a reference guide for anyone who may want it, I won on 11/4 and 11/12, received forms for both on 11/25, sent them back the next day, and I got a combined check today (12/12) for them.

Your mileage may vary. I sent my claim form on 11/12. Nothing yet.

Out of curiosity, do they pay you anything for your question even if you don't win? that's still your material they're using.

I doubt it. I think the idea of the game is that you contribute your question, and you either a) get paid MUCH MUCH MORE for one question than a professional writer would, or b) nothing at all. It balances out and that's the chance you take.
-
I must really get on the Q&A bandwagon, assuming it's not too late.
Considering they've booked questions throughout the summer of 09, I'd say it is.

I have to wonder if people would be saying this if there wasn't that dangling carrot of money involved. Because the couple of times I have watched it, I didn't see a single thing that convinced me that it was worth investing extra time in.
I'm not saying "OMG people only like the show who are being paid," but really, as someone who has very little interest in realizing financial benefit from it, the show just doesn't interest me.

I second that. I even watched another episode of it(the second time I have done so) and couldn't get into it. Chris is an ok host, it's not the host(as with TPIR), it's just a damn dry show over all. Kinda gave me the yawners like that USA originals did in the 80s (et al Bumper Stumpers, etc.)
