GSN is giving the classic fans a lot of Classic Game Show Marathons for the month of December. There will be 4 events during the month of December to help celebrate Christmas. Here they are.
12 Games Of Christmas
Starting on December 8th, GSN will air the 12 Games of Christmas. Starting on December 8th and running through December 23rd, GSN will air a two hour block of Classic Game Shows from 1:00pm-3:00pm. Here is the list of shows.
December 8th: Card Sharks (Eubanks)
December 9th: Beat The Clock (Hall)
December 10th: Family Feud (Combs)
December 11th: Super Password
December 12th: To Tell The Truth (Swann)
December 15th: Press Your Luck
December 16th: Match Game (Rayburn)
December 17th: Card Sharks (Perry)
December 18th: Family Feud (Dawson)
December 19th: Body Language
December 22nd: Password Plus (Ludden)
December 23rd: Wheel of Fortune
On Christmas Eve, there will be a Family Feud marathon. Buzzerblog does not have who the host will be. It will air from 9:00am-6:00pm.
On Christmas Day, GSN will air a Card Sharks marathon. Once again, no info on who will be the host. The marathon will run from 9:00am-6:00pm.
And the day after Christmas, GSN will air a Super Password Marathon. Like the others, it will air from 9:00am-6:00pm.

Looks as though "12 Games of Christmas" will be----would this be the 3rd time they've run it?

...Except that that isn't what this stunt is at *all*. They're recycling the name, but the stunt actually differs. Instead of a single six hour marathon, there are twelve two-hour marathons over 12 days. Also, in terms of series, Eubanks CS, Combs' Feud, and Press Your Luck have been brought in, while Dating Game, Tattletales, and I've Got a Secret are absent.

As big a fan of To Tell The Truth as I am, I have to admit I have never seen a Christmas episode of it outside of that one Lynn Swann episode the old "12 Games of Christmas" has run repeatedly.
Did other incarnations even do them? I have a strong suspicion Collyer's did but then you have to take into account that quite a bit of his run isn't around today.

I'd assume they'd do what they did last year with those two marathons, no?

Yes, Collyer's run did at least one early on. Being that the Moore era was bicycled to stations my guess would be that there were no Christmas shows.
-
But what are they gonna do for New Year's Eve? Maybe on that day they should do a "Passing Parade Marathon." You know, show episodes featuring celebs who passed away during 2008.
Bad idea? You decide.
Cordially,

-
Maybe for New Years, episodes of MG7X and HS where the celebs had had a bit too much to drink?
(no problems finding a marathon worth of THOSE)

Is that the one with the three Santas (two of which happen to be celebrities) and Hank Ketcham (the creator or Dennis the Menace)? That's the only one I remember.
As for New Year's Eve, how about showing the MG7x sign-changing episodes, but this time, don't forget to show the end segments where they actually change the signs (especially the one where Mark Goodson shows up)?

Yep, and the celebrities were Mr. Belvedere (Christopher Hewett) and Rip Taylor.

Can you really call four episodes of any 30-minute show a "marathon"?
-
In my opinion, one of the better ideas GSN did was a few years ago when they did a marathon of final episodes on New Year's Eve and a marathon on series premieres on New Year's Day.
-
I wish they'd do that again. (I didn't have GSN at the time.)

Which latter marathon included the first taped (but not aired) episode of daytime "Gong Show"--where John Barbour proved that he was very unclear on the concept.

The hosts for the Card Sharks and Family Feud marathons have been announced by Buzzerblog. On Christmas Eve it will be a Combs Feud Marathon. As for Card Sharks on Christmas Day, GSN will do what they did last year. It will be a mixture of Perry and Eubanks. Perry will get 2 hours and then Eubanks will get an hour. Rinse, Lather, Repeat.
Both will be from 9:00am-6:00pm.

No, they haven't. They've been announced by GSN.
Since when is Alex Davis an official spokesperson for the network?

Since when is Alex Davis an official spokesperson for the network?[/quote]
Since people like xavier45 seem to have elevated him to that level.
Serious: six of the last seven threads he's started have all been direct rips from Buzzer. The seventh? The Perfesser.
I mean, really, if I wanted to read Buzzer, I'd read Buzzer. Alex is a user here, let him pimp his own site.
-
The reason I post these threads is because some people don't like to go to Buzzerblog. Some people don't get Steve Beverly's E-mail (and don't want it, for obvious reasons). So I (or someone else) posts these threads for people who want to know what marathon is coming up but don't want to read the blogs themselves.
So if you want me to, I will stop posting these kinds of threads. But I really don't see the harm in it.
-
I personally like getting my news through the posts here. If it means somebody just ripping it from elsewhere, that's fine - I'd rather discuss it here than elsewhere.

If I want to get the news, I'll get the news from the horse's mouth. If you "don't like to go to Buzzerblog" or don't want to receive Steve's e-mail, then the content shouldn't matter a whit to you. If it did, you'd be visiting the site/receiving the e-mail in the first place, right?

Well, the "horse's mouth" is the press material available to those two disseminators, if we wish to get technical. This argument is akin to saying "if you don't want to watch CNN/FOX News/whatever, then you must not care about the news." The worthwhile headlines and information has crossed over to this board for discussion in the past. Most of the game show news sources over time have chosen to splinter their focus for the sake of more content. Coming here just gives me the facts, without the editorial differences being an issue.

And, don't rely on the GSN boards as a "end all be all" of sources, I don't believe thing one until Brendy puts it up as a sticky thread herself.
-
I hope they sneak some 25k Pyramid in on the marathon, like they did a few years ago. I think that marathon was planned as a all 100k, but they did put a couple in there for good measure. Thanks to Ike, I didn't get to see 25k in September. Kind of hard to do so when power was out for days. Looks like some of the other shows might be the same as last year, especially the ep. numbers for Eubanks. I bet they are gonna run those Xmas shows with that moronic bonus round, ya know, the one where they slide the thing on the numbers 1-10.

Content does matter. I happen to be of the opinion that Steve's content isn't worth a damn.
That doesn't mean I don't care about what GSN might be running in a marathon.
