Good morning. After much anticipation, it is time to announce the winners of the inaugural awarding of The Don Howard Awards. All winners were selected by Don Howard. Here now the winners of The Don Howard Awards:
* BEST OVERBLOWN RUMOR: The ultra-revamping of The Price Is Right following the dismissal of Roger Dobkowitz.
* THE JANE NELSON AWARD FOR HOTTEST HOSTESS: Mikki Padilla of Catch 21, who in three days has been responsible for five wet dreams.
* BEST COMEBACK: Million Dollar Password. I really wanted to give this to Temptation, but it wasn't so it lost.
* THE LEE BOWMAN AWARD FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN HOSTING: Todd Russell of Wheel Of Fortune. I maintain that It's Time To Honor Todd!
* THE SRIV AWARD: To the Chicago Cubs. 100 wins? Maybe. First World Series win in 100 years? Maybe.
* THE ODIN AWARD FOR OMNIPOTENCE: Why, to Matt Ottinger, of course.
* MOST UNDERRATED PERSONALITY: ESPN's Bob Ley. Has been there since the very beginning and still doesn't feel the need to shout or pump himself up as the world's personal piece of showtime.
* THE HARMON R. WHITTLE AWARD: Outgoing Miss Budweiser Cleveland Grand Prix Melanie Soster, the prettiest student at any college or university anyplace.
These have been The Don Howard Awards. This is Don Howard speaking.

1- Rumor has it the changes are going to be implemented slowly. One can only hope that the Fremantle execs actually WATCH the show in action before making changes. If any.
2. And Six.

Don Howard wins again, folks!

Of course it does, considering that the people who announced the original rumor currently look like ninnies when it didn't come to pass. At all.
The above is the equivalent of "I meant to do that!"

Have you seen CC Sabathia since he went to Milwaukee? He's back to his Cy Young Award-winning form from last year. (Alternate answer to "Have you seen CC Sabathia?": You haven't? People on the International Space Station can see him. For those playing along at home who don't get it, Sabathia is a mountain of a man, around 6'8" and weighing in anywhere from 290 to 320 lbs.)

Who needs CC when you have Cliff Lee?...Seriiously, I'm pulling for Lee to win 20, if the Tribe doesnt do any more fire sales before the end of the year..and This LaPorta looks like the real deal..

Well, with CC and Prince Fielder, the Brewers have the best team, pound for pound, in baseball.
(Besides, they balance out the plane so it doesn't list to one side.)
Big series this weeks, Cubs vs. Brewers. Dare I say crucial? It might even knock Brett Favre back to the sports pages (from the front, that is).
/what election? what war? what TPIR changes?

If the Cubs would give Rich Harden a) run support and b) a decent bullpen on the days he pitches, he'd match CC pitch-for-pitch so far.

As am I. He goes for his 14th tonight on his way to The Dan McDade Jackpot of sixteen.
Getting this somewhat on game show topic so this thread doesn't get locked, Dan defeated sixteen opponents on Tic Tac Dough, losing to a very annoying woman who played her next game against an equally annoying man. She later lost.

Well, the Cubs and Brewers are tied (and the Brew Crew has a ton of momentum--or as CAESAR'S CHALLENGE host Ahmad Rashad so eloquently put it: memontum).
Forget the World Series (and winning 100 games), there's now question about whether the Cubs can hold off the Mets and Phillies (and Cardinals) for the wild-card.
On the way to 200 years of futility.

Yeah, well your team hasn't lost over 10,000 games have they? Bring back Bake McBride! I'm sure Darren Dalton is between alien encounters. When I'm bored, I might just have to try and figure out the cost of each Ryan Howard strikeout. It's gotta be between $6,000 and $8,000.

One ex-Cub going deep off another ex-Cub. Seems the secret for the Cubs to make it to a World Series is to leave.

Dodgers / Boston would kill. Rays / anybody would kill, because it's the Rays. Dodgers / Phils would do okay, ratings-wise. Dodgers / Angels would have consolidated the audience to a single market, which is never good, but also moot.
Really the only pairing I can see being ratings suicide would be Phils / Boston.

I suspect the ratings in Philly would be astronomical... since we, er... the Phills, have failed more times in September since what '81? We, er... the Phills, have gotten farther than last year and we'll have at least one shiny new banner to put up in the outfield next year.

I didn't realize that Philly was as high in the market food chain as it was. You're right, you can do quite a bit worse than to have one team in the #4 and the other in the #7.
It would still be a very local interest, though. You don't hear a lot about Phillies Nation, you know? :)
-
If it was Phils and Red Sox, I suspect a lot of the New York market would either watch or spontaneously combust (most likely both).

I don't think there's a "Phillies Nation" per se. I think they just added the 'rally towel' within the last few years. It's weird to hear Harry Kalas talk about the fans waving their rally towels. We didn't need no stinkin' towels in 1980.
