Or, at least Variety (http://\"http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117983407.html?categoryid=14&cs=1&nid=2565\") says it's in the works.
-
I had a hunch that this show would go forward without O'Hurley. NBC has a habit of cross promotion and using in-house talent as much as possible (See Bush, Billy).
Not too dissapointed that O'hurley isn't getting the prime time gig. He's just not my cup of tea.
-
For some reason, I like this decision. I like O'Hurley as the daytime host, but this seems to be the kind of show where Roker can express his jolly personality without being too excited.
Now the question is, do you fly Roker to L.A. for tapings, or get your NBC stars to New York?

We still don't know whether it will be NBC stars, or a single celebrity and his real-life family, or what the makeup of the teams will be. I'll betcha, though, that no matter what, this'll be done in LA.
-
Interesting. This may prove that the Perf just guessed when he reported that O'Hurley would emcee the NBC edition.
Shocking? Not a bit. Just an observation.

I wondered about that myself. It seems an awfully odd thing for him to just assume. For as much as you guys pick at him over little stuff, this would definitely be a big-stuff sized mistake.

This might be a reason why O'Hurley isn't hosting.... (http://\"http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117983397.html?categoryid=14&cs=1\")

Good for him but it doesn't conclude anything. He's may have been in discussions for that hosting role longer than NBC has been in discussions to buy CelebFF. O'Hurley's just making a business decision to do another show during Feud's downtime. Good for him for putting (more) food on his table.

Right. There's no correlation between O'Hurley not doing nighttime Feud because of this Talents show. The Talents show is more than likely a very small commitment, as would be nighttime Feud - 6 eps at most, right? It's almost like Drew saying "I can't do that nighttime MDS because I'm hosting daytime too." (Roughly.)

And I'm not one to pick on the Perf either, because after all these years, there's an expectation there...I'm guessing it's just an assumption on his part, because I didn't see O'Hurley mentioned in any press about this that's crossed my desk.

I guess no one here is aware that John is currently living in Las Vegas and starring once again (as he did for 8 months last year (Feb.-Sept.) as King Arthur in Spamalot at the Wynn and doing 7 shows a week there. He has been there since the end of January and will be in Spamalot til the end of August. Towards the later part of the Summer (as he did last year) he flys into L.A. on his day off and films 7 shows of the Feud ( until he is living back on a regular basis in L.A. and then films 7 episodes a day of the Feud on Saturdays and Sundays) and flys back to Vegas. So now, he will be taking off Tuesdays to film the Talent Show in Burbank and flying back to Vegas for the next 7 weeks. He is also busy doing commercials and voice overs and composing music for another Cd and some other projects, so I guess there is only so far a person can stretch themselves. lol

I'm on vacation part of this week, so I caught this announcement made on the Today Show this morning.
Al Roker officially confirmed he will host the celebrity edition of Feud. He said the show would premiere Tuesday, July 1, at 8p ET on the Peacock.
According to Roker, the format would be as follows...
-- It will be a 60-minute show
-- There will be a four team, single-elimination tournament in each game. The winners of the first two games will face off in the third game (he didn't provide specifics about # of rounds per game, # of Fast Moneys per show, etc.)
-- Teams will be made up of four players. He said the teams could consist of one celebrity and his/her family (such as what Game Show Marathon did), celebs who are friends in real life, casts members from films, current TV shows or classic TV shows.
During the segment, co-host Natalie Morales mentioned that John O'Hurley currently hosted the daytime version. Ann Curry just kept asking Al if he would kiss the ladies like Richard Dawson.

It won't be a 30-minute game stretched out to an hour. Encouraging, I must say.

On the surface, then, nobody seems to think they need to re-invent the wheel, plus they're giving themselves pretty much carte blanche on what constitutes a "celebrity team." I still think a celeb and his real-life family is a snoozer, and that a cast with a real connection is better than just a bunch of celebs on this side and a bunch of celebs on that side.

I'd bet money we see both....celebs and their families, and celebs and their 'tv families'.
And while they're certainly not stretching far from syndication for this prime time vehicle, I'd bet more money that we see a completely different set
/Love to see it look just like the 70s again.
//Love more if Fremantle would just ditch those stupid looking cardboard posters for the audience.
///Love the most if they brought back Rich Fields to reprise his record-breaking stint announcing Feud for GSMarathon.
////Just kidding about that last one.

That "Mumbles" Dawson remake with the cheap set & 4-player teams was 'different'...But it blew chunks!
Just pray that Fremantle doesn't find a sale on glass blocks!
-
So they're probably going to play 3 games and a fast money in the hour. Nevertheless, I bet something's going to give (i.e. play to 200 points) for the sake of commercials.

The classic specials had a one-question winner-take-all event as their third game. With even less playing time available these days, something like that is likely.

So it's going to be similar in format to the celeb editions that ran on ABC in prime time in the late '70s, except with the TV show cast angle excluded. Most of those casts were ABC casts -- because CBS's schedule was in flux and NBC didn't have enough hit shows with set casts to make it work. ("And now, the cast of Supertrain! With Charlie Brill... no, wait a minute, Charlie, I just got a call from Fred Silverman...")
During the segment, co-host Natalie Morales mentioned that John O'Hurley currently hosted the daytime version. Ann Curry just kept asking Al if he would kiss the ladies like Richard Dawson.
"Why, no, Ann. Are you going to act like a moron like Julie Chen?"
-
You know if NBC leaves it on Tues at 8 after July 1, there will be three game shows with new episodes at the same time.
Celebrity Family Feud on NBC
Wipeout on ABC
The Moment of Truth on Fox
Sadly, although I do not think Truth is a long term type thing, it the short term I bet it comes out on top.

Not any longer (http://\"http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/TV/04/10/tv.secrettalents.ap/index.html\"), not that it can affect who's hosting Celebrity Feud.
-
Does anybody know when they are shooting the show? NBC started airing their "All American Summer" promos today, and there was no mention of Feud.

Aside from seeing Bernsen's smoking hot wife, I pass. And, does OCM realize that two in the list are married to each other?
/No, It's not Ice-T and Joan Rivers.

If they do female Glads v. male Glads, that's the only one I'll watch.
Play or Pass? Definitely pass.

The female Glads are going to be a little limited- Steel has the "silent" schtick going on, and Crush may not want to show her face for a while because she blew the weigh-in for her MMA fight tonight on CBS (Gina Carano weighed 144.5 for a 140 pound fight- it's still on, but Carano forfeited 12.5% of her purse to her opponent- I still think she wins, but there's a lot of Haterade being flung in her direction right now...)
-
If Wayne Newton is even half as loopy as he was during his TPIR cameo earlier this season, at least that Feud episode could be worth watching.
