I usually hear the names of David Letterman and Seth MacFarlane when we discuss celebrities who are/may be game show fans/nuts.
Are there any other celebrities out there who have let out some of their geekdom at one point or another?
-
I recall hearing that Paul McCartney and Cher have both said that they liked Pyramid. (I heard it as a direct quote from McCartney; I think Dick said that Cher had said so.)
-
According to Matt Ottinger, Joey Bishop was a big game show fan too.

I remember reading an article about Celine Dion from a few years ago that said her absolute favorite television show was The Price is Right.

Apparently not. Someone deleted the Wikipedia page about me.

Yeah, he appeared on the original Hollywood Squares, and was able to get the chance to host one question round of the Dawson Family Feud on ABC-TV daytime early on during its run. If there is going to be a DVD box set with civilian Feud episodes coming in the future, Sammy's appearence as a "guest host" should be included as a possibility.

There was a hip-hop/R&B song called Dilemma by Nelly and Kelly Rowland from a couple years back that had a tune in the background that sounded like a slowed down version of the theme from Davidson's Squares.
Can't say I can recall a "hip-hop" song that's sampled a game show theme. I know of at least one techno song (Come on Down by Crystal Waters).

And a good one nonetheless. A little cheesy, but still good.
I've always thought that Bob Cobert's assorted game show works would make good samples. Imagine someone sampling the Pyramid theme or Chain Reaction or even something obscure, but catchy, like the Your Number's Up win music...

"Dilemma" features an element of the LaBelle song, the portion where Kelly says "I love you/baby I need you/Nelly, I love you..." That's more or less the chorus of "Love, Need and Want You", minus the reference to Nelly. :-)
ObGameShow: Patti LaBelle appeared on some game show within the last 5-10 years...I wanna say HSq.

And tonight Ellen's on a game show--as a "DOND" suitcase model.

Yeah, the rules say the following:
A pattern of excessive and gratuitous use of foul language shall constitute grounds for disciplinary action.
That translates roughly to "you should find the happy medium between a Daye/Bartram-style string of obscenities and golly-gee whiz-gosh-darn it-to-heck." ;-)

MESSAGE TO WRITER'S GUILD:
In the ongoing negotiations, include a mandatory clause in the next contract to "forbid any non-generic network logos during any of their programs" (EAS/local bulletins excluded)
It does obstruct and/or detract from the fruits of their labor, you know!!! :-)

Going back to the original subject, I believe that Larry the Cable Guy is a game show fan -- there are several mentions of game shows in Git-R-Done (including a section where he states that he likes The Price Is Right because it allows him to use the word "plinko" in everyday conversation).
