Title: GSN Documentaries
Post by: The Pyramids on January 10, 2008, 09:36:40 PM
Does anyone wish GSN would make more, or do you think the ones that aired last year covered enough ground?

We're assuming they covered any ground.

Actually, I'd like to see more that style and nothing like the "Anything To Win" crap we were subjected to.

I missed the MG special, but something more in the vein of the Big Bucks or Women in Game Shows documentaries works for me. I thought the latter was pretty well-produced, covering the transition from eye candy to groundbreakers.

I'd rather see game shows than documentaries on GSN, no matter how well-produced the documentary.

A documentary about Barry & Enright Productions doesn't sound like a bad idea.  They'd have so much to cover with the '50s alone.

Besides Herb Stempel and Mo Rocca, who's alive today who would be able to speak on the topic?  I think GSN should stay away from the scandals.  That's like having a documentary on the Black Sox on the MLB channel when they could be showing a ball game.

There's not enough ground in the world that could successfully cover them.

I still think hour or even half-hour biographies of some of the legends is something way overdue for GSN, and maybe as the pendulum has swung back a little toward classic product, there might be interest for it.  Give Wostbrock a producer credit for access to his collection, dust off the clips, maybe even hit up UCLA for some new ones and most importantly, sit these people down and interview them while they're still with us.

I second that.  Give that man a cigar, or his favorite drink if he doesn't smoke.

And if he doesn't drink, God help us.
