One of the 3 episodes will more than likely be the Wednesday (10/17) ep that was interrupted. Wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Bush calls two more press conferences within the next month and pre-empts or interrupts another 2 episodes of TPIR.
/He always could interrupt Y&R for a change...
//Or what about Guiding Light???
-
Holy....someone went TPIR overload. I mean...I'm a fan and all, and TPIR is a good show again...and Drew's good....but wow. That's a little crazy.
And the West gets completely shafted.
-
I have a feeling that, since my CBS affil. has no noon news, they'll put Wheel in the noon slot that day, and the normal double-runs of Mill and J on the sister indie station could be preempted for the first runs.
Then again, you'll never know what will happen on this affiliate when it comes to scheduling... this fall's lineup has at least 75% time changes compared to last.

It's not a bad idea - with the hype about Drew, this will be the first chance a lot of working folks have had to see him.

Oh, wait...
"not gonna happen???"

I know it never happens.... but why *doesn't* the President give speeches in the afternoon?

The best way I can explain it is because most reporters have deadlines to edit & publish their stories for their respective media, hence, you'll always see Bush on at mid-mornings(generally around 10 AM or 11 AM Eastern). Besides, most major news stories usually take place sometime between about 8 AM-8PM Eastern. The morning shows are basically news oriented anyways, so if a story breaks, they simply cut right to the story either after an interview or a segment featuring the weather. From 8PM on, it's up to the networks to decide what warrants breaking news. If they put Bush on in the afternoon, that'll get some soap fans angry. Besides, how many Americans actually watch that stuff lately in this age of dual working households.
As for TPIR being on Turkey Day, this is a good chance for many working Americans to see Drew in action. I think the episodes will most likely be re-runs if the West Coast isn't getting any.

Line of the day?

If it was Dora the Explorer, yes definitely. This, I dunno.

It seems the president has always chosen the 11AM hour to do press conferences. I can remember an episode of the Dawson Feud in which someone sent a letter to the White House during the Carter Administration about why they held press conferences when Feud was airing. The White House actually responded and there response was read by Richard. Maybe I'm guessing that the press conference has the chance to make it onto the Noon news.
-
I think someone mentioned there earlier that the reason why the news conferences and speeches are chosen for 11AM is mainly for the west coast's benefit -- they follow the morning news shows in the Rockies (9AM), and seen during the morning shows on the Pacific Coast (8AM).

Figures, 3 TPIR episodes on Thanksgiving Day when i'm home from College and they won't air on the West Coast. Oh well, at least there's GSN and all of the other shows on the air.
