All the hype about Temptation reminded me of the Perry version of SOTC, and I realized there was one thing I never got to see.
When they went to that "four clues, one word at a time" end game near the end of the run, how could a contestant win the $50,000?

You played for $50,000 on your eighth consecutive win. The car was step number 7.

Well, first and foremost, they had to win the previous day's bonus round to even get the SHOT at playing for the $50,000.
I would guess then they played the $50,000 WBMG the same way as the others, right? I never got to see either of the two times that it was played for.

I never saw enough of that version, but IIRC, on day one the contestant played for $5,000, then an extra $1,000 each day up until day five ($9,000). On day six, they played for the car, then day seven, it was the $50,000. I believe a new champion started at $5,000
I think...forgive the guessing on my part.
Already answered.

That is correct, sir.
The $50,000 Winner's Big Money Game was played the exact same way as the previous seven. If anything, the difficulty on the puzzles were ramped up.
Finally, to reiterate what PYLDude said, the car had to be won before even considering the chance for an eighth playing.

And I only saw the $50000 won once during the Big Money Game period.
That winner was the wife of someone who had won big on $otC during the time frame of the Winners' Board.
