Is Drew Carey the right emcee for The Price Is Right?

I like Drew a lot. There've been times when I've had tears streaming down my face, from laughing so hard. (Ever seen his first two appearances with Carson, which were on consecutive nights? Gawd. Hysterically funny and edgy.)
But I doubt he'd stay out of the way and let the contestants play.
I could be wrong. It's not like that's never happened before.

Drew Carey could be another Louie Anderson, or he could be another (100 lbs. overweight) Bill Cullen.
-
This may be off the wall, but his growing up in Cleveland, and being a fan of Ghoulardi, etc..He may have a good sense of long time tradition and what works..and would let the contestants play without injecting himself too much into the proceedings..
-
My only hesitation is that, on WLIIA, Drew could barely read a single card without sounding like it was the first time he'd seen the text. I would hope that whomever hosts, KNOWS the games.
The host has to be part showsman, part salesman and part hooter-for-the-contestant. That's what Bob Barker was. And Bill Cullen. And Monty Hall...and etc.
My vote is still Harry Anderson. Or....the real stretch: George Lopez.

I saw a newspaper story about Harry Anderson the other day. (He's running a magic shop in New Orleans now.) He has NOT aged well.
Or....the real stretch:
I'll say.

My take is that the Price fanb0is are gonna hate him, and scream and bitch and moan that he doesn't use the exact same verbiage when he explains Any Number to a player. That right there raises his stock by about half in my eyes.

At this rate, I don't much care. Just pick a host and get rolling on season 36. The execs have had months (apparently the last few years, according to Barker) to figure out who to take over.

Is there really a "right" host for TPIR? (For my money, I thought Bill was best of all) I think he'll be good enough, and that's plenty for me. I enjoy watching him perform, and I expect that I would enjoy him giving away cars, cash and furniture.

I think Drew could make the show his own in a way that few new hosts ever do.
