I am hoping to see Bob's last show on June 6. My brother and his wife wrote in for tickets, as I plan on going with Brian. As far as I know, the tickets have not arrived yet.
According to the CBS site, tickets ARE available at the ticket booth now for Bob's last show, but no e-tickets are available. Is it advisable that if tickets DON'T arrive by June 5th (the day we're leaving for LA and will arrive at CBS) that we should try to get the tickets at the ticket booth when we arrive at CBS? In theory, we SHOULD be able to if the CBS website says they're available.
If anyone on this group is going, look for me! You may have to look harder though, because I'll look quite different, for those who have met me.
Go to "http://www.geocities.com/mattkaiser.geo/kaiser.html" if you don't know what I am talking about.

I now have tickets for the last TPIR, and they're REGULAR tickets! I'll be waiting in line sometime after 6pm on June 5th!

I'd get there sooner than that if I were you.

A LOT sooner.

I will be going by virtue of a media credential. I'll be covering the last show for Westwood One Radio Networks. If any of you guys are going, I'll see you there.
By the way Matt -- congratulations on your weight loss! I know how challenging losing weight can be. I lost 180 lbs. following gastric bypass surgery, and I have since joined a bike racing team.
Andrew
-
I would get there sooner, but my plane arrives in LA a little after 6pm. It'll probably take an hour to check in bags and get dinner before heading out. Here's hoping there won't be 300+ people there by the time we arrive.
For the record, I lost the weight WITHOUT any surgery. Sometime I'd like to do another game show production. I was probably over 300 pounds when I did Whew! I weighed around 250 when I did my Match Game production way back in 2001.
It's likely quite a few of those hopeful audience members will have standbys, so for those going to see Bob's last show, good luck!
-
Not to beat a dead horse, I've brought this up before...
Gotta question for ya Matt. I ordered 4 tickets for June 6th's taping in early March, and I still haven't gotten mine yet (I can't expect I'll get them at this point), but when exactly did your brother order them? I wasn't gonna reserve a flight from coast to coast, either, unless I knew for certain I was gonna get there, by virtue of having received the tickets.
If I were to get them, my plan was to fly out and try to get to CBS studios that Monday (6/4), just because of the lines I'd expect, even then, I was wondering if that wouldn't be too late. It is Barker's last show, after all...
So, if ya can get there and get in, and I can't, may I wish ya the best of luck and win big! :)

Book a different flight.
No, seriously. I have a friend out there who just IM'd me that there are already 300 people in line for tomorrow's taping. You show up next Tuesday at 6 PM, you aren't gettin' in.

Hope you're taking snacks - at the rate this host search is going the first show won't be taping until July 2011.
/And if you didn't, I'm sure you can snag some Funyuns from someone in line.

Well, you'll need to pack a lunch because his replacement won't be announced until December. The execs are waiting for the right time.

All the more reason to get on line now. Once the name is announced there will be a mob scene.

Huh? And they're gonna air repeats between Barker's last show and then?
That really makes a lot of no sense.
-
I don't think the affils would stay on board if they keep airing repeats when everybody has been told Barker has retired. Unlike years past, even Joe Schmoe would know it's a rerun. I think CBS might go for a talk-service show aimed at women to cut into the View, or maybe put in repeats of current prime-time procedurals or sitcoms until a new TPIR host is found.

Hope not. Because if much time goes by, that program clicks and the demo is a desirable one, the eagerness to find a host for TPiR and get the show back into production might not be as strong.
-
Well Bob has said at tapings that for sure reruns will continue until at least November now. And to put this back on topic, Matt, if you don't get there til 6pm or later, you might as well not go. At best you'll get a standby arrival slip and very few if any of those will be let in.

Forget dinner. Doesn't CBS have some kind of concession stand on the premises, where you can buy chips/sandwiches, etc? If not, pack a sandwich.

Whether Matt has regular tickets or not, the possibility exists that there will already be more than 300 people with tickets in line by the time he gets there.

If I had those tickets, I'd be in line this weekend.
Those guys that run the bagel shop across the street are gonna be bummin' once June 6th passes.

I read in both Bagelcasting and Cable and Steve Beverly's LoxWatch.dom that the bagel guy is retiring too. Apparently corporate wants to open a tofu roll shop, mainly for the cross-promotion opportunities, but it blew the health inspection. Besides, none of us would support tofu anyhow.
(Oh, and the corporate CEO? sleeping with alfalfa sprouts. They work with the tofu roll.)

There was one when I went in 2001, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't one on CBS property when I went this past summer.
There's a 24/7 Exxon at the corner of Fairfax and Beverly, a two-minute walk from the line.

There is an Exxon station right down the street (visible from TV City) that is useful for snacks and bathroom facilities with purchase.

If any of you live near Television City and could investigate for us, I'd be curious how long those lines are these days and what taping date(s) those people have tickets for.
Now, back to the discussion of gas station snacks, already in progress.

I realize that there might be some sarcasm in this statement, but most gas stations make more selling items inside the store as opposed to gasoline.
Edit: Sentence fix

I don't quite live near TV City... but I was close by the area after swing rehearsal (and finding cheap gas), and felt a little adventurous, so I did a little investigating.... and the lines....
....surprisingly aren't as long as I thought they would be.
There are two separate lines, instead of one right now, with it being a Monday.
One very long line is the line for the Monday 1:15 show, and others.
The other line is for the 4:30 show on Monday. The people at the front of both of those lines have waited since Saturday evening.
As of midnight, the line for the early Monday show had about 200-250 people. The line for the later show only had about 100-150 people.
Then there were the people waiting in line for the Tuesday and Wednesday shows. There were about 30-40 people for each day. SO, if you were to get in line right now for the Tuesday taping, you'll be guaranteed to be in the top 50 people. Same for the Wednesday finale.
Overall, the lines are not as bad as I thought. It is certainly busier than a normal taping week, but not as much as I thought it would be. However, I would still suggest to get in line fairly soon.... because you never know. :-p I've already enlisted people to investigate tomorrow afternoon/evening.... so we'll see how the lines go from there. Good evening, and if you're going to see the show.... good luck!
