Title: GSN West Coast Feed
Post by: WestCovinaBoy on May 22, 2007, 04:53:15 AM
Just a heads up for those in the Los Angeles area and other west coast TimeWarner Digital Cable customers:  As of tonight 5/21/07, Digital Cable subscribers are now receiving the West Coast feed of GSN instead of the original East Coast feed.  (Adjust your VCRs and Tivos accordingly!)

EDIT: Lunch break and we're back to the East Coast feed.  Checking in with Blockbusters at 10:30 during a break was nice for a change.  But.. oh well.  After Jeopardy, it skipped over 3 hours.  Went from the end of Jeopardy with a promo for WWTBAM coming up with the correct times, but then Lingo started.  Who knows what the deal is.  So much for that.  Guess it was a fluke at the cable co or an eff up by GSN.

I'm curious.  For those living on the west coast: Which feed do YOU recieve?  Which would YOU prefer?

I live in Valley Village and Time Warner provides the east coast feed. Live "Playmania" rulz! Well, not really...  The east coast feed is handy for me when I TiVo 'Password Plus' at 8 A and 'Lingo' at 4:30P instead of 11A and 7:30P.

The Tujunga/north Burbank area recently switched from Comcast to Time Warner, but we still receive the east coast feed.  For a short time after the switch, my TiVo thought I now got the west coast feed, but it finally straightened itself out.

I haven't experienced the east coast feed on the east coast much, but there are some nice advantages to getting it on the west coast... Sunday/Monday at 3:30 am becomes 12:30 am, and you can watch game shows as early as 6 am (although I rarely start earlier than 7).

I'm in Apple Valley, CA and we've got Charter Communications, and the West Coast feed. I don't really care which feed I have (DVR), but a live Playmania would be fun once in a while.

For those of you guys on the west coast with cable whose providers choose to air the west coast feed for GSN, the following bit of information crossed my path this evening that you may find pretty relevant to your interests:

Quote
Notice to Systems Currently Carrying GSN’s West Coast Feed…

GSN’S WEST COAST FEED WILL TERMINATE AS OF MARCH 30, 2009

Effective March 30, 2009, GSN’s West Coast Feed will no longer be available on AMC-10, Transponder 6, Channel 9, as part of the E! style! digital multiplex. You will be required to switch FROM Channel 9 TO Channel 2, GSN’s East Coast Feed, also on AMC-10, Transponder 6.

That's really funny, considering there were some animated conversations with regard to the East Coast v. West Coast feed when we were putting together the Bingo America promotional stuff we're doing at MSN Games.

I hope this doesn't mean the return of the repeating 4-hour blocks..

If they intend to have the shows air at roughly the same time on the West Coast (at least in prime time), perhaps...
