If WoF hasn't jumped the shark yet...it has now.
As noted by bandit_bobby in the Show Summaries section (some of you prolly glossed right over it...aka "ignore user"), they have now changed the Toss Up, Final Spin, and Bonus Round think cues to apparently "fit" with the new main theme.
All I have to say is "wow".
Apparently the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory doesn't apply to this show. I saw nothing wrong with how the old cues fit with the (horrendous) new theme. But they were able to change them...and make them worse. They try to more melodically emphasize the rounds...instead of just the play of the round itself. I just want the days of a silent speed-up round, and a regular clock tick back in the bonus round.
Also...there's a spoiler below...kinda. Highlight to read.
Pat says during today's speed-up round that "this round will be long becuase I like the music..and he proceeds to "sing" along with it later in the round....

Yeah, didn't you guys know that changing old music cues is, of course, the epitome of jumping the shark?

This is unquestionably a ridiculous assertion.

I thought that was Ted McGinley.

So Ted McGinley is responsible for changing old music cues. That explains everything!

Where do you think you are on our lists, sport? You and BB hang out together.
And, if you really think that a music bed change makes a show "jump the shark", then you seriously need to get outside more often.

How could Ted McGinley have caused "Happy Days" to jump the shark when by that time the show had already jumped the shark?
-
I actually liked the new Toss-Up music after hearing it again tonight. But I still hate the rest of the new music.

Yeah, you would. I see no problems with the new cues whatsoever. Honestly, I could care less either way.

Well, if that's true, then Wheel jumped in '83 when they scuttled all that cool old Stan Worth music, theme, prize cues, and all. That's the best part of those old shows running now on Page o' Clips, hearing all that old stuff again.
That seems to be the thing with Wheel. When one of its composers dies, his music inevitably goes a few years later. First, Stan Worth, now Steve Kaplan's apparently out the door. (Granted, most of the early Wheel stuff was written by Alan Thicke, but it was Stan Worth's name on the credits.)

Retroactively. He's that powerful!

Wow, I can't believe those (censored)s would change music cues. I mean, as if the Toss up round and final spin graphics weren't bad enough, now they change the cues. If they don't put it back, I will NEVER watch it again! You hear that, Sony?

The best part is that the remote episodes are usually produced after the bulk, if not all, of the California episodes are done (especially the 2nd and 3rd remotes each year). Which means unless they re-add the new music package in post, it's very likely in a few weeks we'll suddenly hear the previous package again.\
That'd really make heads spin.
/I'll get the popcorn.
-
I thought the new cues were OK. Not as good as the last set of cues were. But at least we'll be hearing the new package this montha & again in May when Wheel goes back on the road. After that, the new cues will be permanent for next season.
-
I'll buy the flamingo lamp for $295 Pat. I'd love for them to go back to the original music, even for one week. Heck, even use Chuck and Susan. A true "retro" week.
-
Actually.....
....I am REALLY digging these new music cues for WoF. They flow very well with the new theme, which I actually also like. I think the only thing I'd like to see back is an actual countdown instead of music in the bonus round... but that's minor and nitpicky. Personally, I'm with Pat Sajak in that the music for the speed-up round is quite catchy and very enjoyable.
Pfft, jump the shark... please...

You're right. Fonzie landed a solid five years ago.
