I'd like to request tickets for May 9th (my 18th birthday), but I have no idea if they're even taping on that day.
Something tells me that the only way to find out is to send out a request, but I don't want to dash my chances of getting any tickets...somehow, I imagine that if your requested day isn't available, they just send you a note saying "Sorry, not available".
And with tickets (probably) getting increasingly scarce approaching Bob's last tape date, I'd like to see the show as close to my birthday as possible.
What happens if your requested day isn't available? Do they send you tickets for the next available date?
I'd love to know, just so I can get this ticket-ordering thing going ASAP.
Any answers appreciated. Thank you.

If you're asking for a day they're taping on, they will NEVER run out of tickets. The procedure always is that they distribute in excess of studio capacity. It's what order you get there that determines whether or not you get in. They could distribute a gazillion tickets but they'll only let the first 320 or so in.

No offense, Steve. But somehow I don't think they'll be taping on June 7th. I suspect it hasn't been updated to reflect a new host, or the fact they won't need 4 days to tape 5 shows.

Not true! Even though they distribute tickets in excess of studio capacity, there are still a finite number of tickets that are printed and sent out. After all, after you've sent out over a thousand tickets, the odds are pretty good that 300-some audience members will show up.
If they run out of tickets for the valid date you've requested, they'll try to send you available tickets for a nearby date. With Bob's retirement looming, I would guess that that will start happening more often now. If you get a form letter saying that there are no more tickets for any nearby date, you can try the ticket window on the Television City lot. A separate batch of tickets becomes available there about two weeks before the tape date (for example, the tickets for the February 5 taping became available around January 22). Those tickets are also in limited supply, so if you know somebody in L.A. who can pick them up for you, call in a favor.
I do not envy the pages out there right now, I can tell you that.

So the bottom line is that they don't need to do the ticket plug for a while.

I sent out today for 3 tickets for the May 15 taping. What are my chances of getting them?

They don't start sending out tickets until about four weeks beforehand. I'd say your chances are good-to-excellent (although that's not a guarantee by any stretch).
One thing you also might want to consider. On March 1, start checking CBS.com to see if you can get E-tickets (which serve the same purpose as regular tickets). Worse comes to worse, you have both types of tickets and you're covered for a ticket (pending how early you get there--no guarantee on admission).
And potential strategy about how early you might want to get there can be found here (http://\"http://gameshow.ipbhost.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=12248&view=findpost&p=143990\").

I think they only have a limited number of E-tickets. When I tried to get them for last year's July 17th taping (the one many of the fine folks from this forum attended), they stated there were no more available, and that was months before that date; so I sent my self-address stamped envelope instead and easily got tickets that way. Since it was a Monday, I got tickets for both tapings just as a backup.

Correct. Which is why I suggested starting checking on March 1, which I believe is the earliest E-tickets for May tapings can become available. If they're not available, keep checking until they are. Once they're made available, grab 'em (because they'll go quickly). But this is another way to get a ticket if you're concerned that the snail mail system won't work out.
