Title: Game Show Research: The Cullen radio show"Beat the Clock"
Post by: TwoInchQuad on July 09, 2006, 04:48:55 AM
Those who have access to back copies of The Paper of Record can check it for themselves...  the announcement was made on 2/26/49, and Bill started hosting on WCBS Radio on 3/7/49.

At this point,  I'm still uncertain as to the end date, but there's the start, in any event.

Hey, thanks for this, Kevin!  Getting to the MSU library is tedious for something like start and end dates, and I didn't have this one.  Now I wish we had more than the one episode!

Picture a guy standing in an inflatable wading pool being squirted with whipped cream by his wife. No wonder the radio version of Concentration never took off.

Well I can picture the first part, but what it makes me think of makes your second sentence seem to be a bit of a non-sequitur.   :^)

Though I appreciate my esteemed colleague's joke, for those of you who don't know and are justifiably confused, the radio version of Beat the Clock was not a stunt show.  It was a quiz, similar to 2 for the Money only with a single contestant and a finite number of answers.
