Hey everyone,
Not sure if anyone saw Feud on GSN today at 10AM, or the Karn Feud Soap Opera Special, but BOTH episodes had Doug Davidson from The Young & The Restless/The New Price is Right. I believe Doug appeared on Family Feud at least once with every host. Does anyone know when these Dawson episodes are from?

They are from early to mid 1984. But that is true and i believe the same can be said for Melody Thomas Scott who was on every one as well as Louie Anderson. I dont know if Doug was on Louie's version though.
-
I remember seeing him on Louie's, so I believe he has.

Could someone please explain why many posters to forums like this are so eager, almost desperate, to misuse the word "irony"?
Is it a "look at me, I know a grown-up word" sort of thing, or what? Or do "the kids" just like to describe random coincidences as "ironic" now?

I strongly suspect that in this case, it's the former.

Because they were asleep that day in seventh grade english class.
<bangs head on keyboard, amazed at the stupidity of this misuse>

The irony is that out of all Feud episodes, those were on the same day.

That's coincidence (http://\"http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/coincidence\"), not irony (http://\"http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/irony\").

Adam, if you still think that's ironic, then you clearly do not understand what irony is and should not be attempting to use the word.

No, the "irony"* is that even after it was strongly suggested that you don't have the least little bit of a grip on what the word means, you insisted on abusing it yet again. You see, it's ironic because... well, why don't you explain it to the class?
*Or is that "cluelessness". Sometimes I get them confused.

Brilliant.

Here.
You used the word "irony" to make yourself sound smarter. Instead, it made you sound dumber. THAT is irony.

That made me cry.
I wish this one post could be made a sticky. Ah well.

It's all Alanis Morrissette's fault.
That's all I'm going to say, except someone get her to say "water" or "I don't know."
-
It's almost worth it for the 1-in-1000 people who get that the song is ironic because it's not really ironic at all, just a litany of very unfortunate coincidences.

You mean, like rayiyain on your wedding day? A free ride, when you've already paid?
I dunno. I'd call those ironic. Don't you think?

Moderators, can we have a textbox to the membership registration form that asks, "Please give an example of irony."?

Bob Barker sings Alanis Morrissette:
"I've got one hand in my $100 pocket/And the other in Dian's..."
