They're not his "principles," they're part of who he is as a person. IMO this isn't all that different from Karlberg's comments about Italians and African-Americans.
I agree with Mr. Mangin... "totally uncalled for" about covers it.
-
Well I find it offensive. Why don't we just make other references based upon someone's sexuality, race, gender, etc., since, according to lemon, gay people won't mind being raped in prison.
You have the right to make offensive comments just because someone has stated they are gay? Bull.

I hope someday you experience your attitude in someone else when it's you being harassed.
-
In an effort to stave off a flamewar that will probably get the thread closed, and despite the obviousness of a joke about an openly gay man being sent to a place (through EVERY fault of his own, mind you) which is stereotypically known for gay sex and "don't drop the soap" jokes, I offer an apology if jmangin was offended.

It wasn't just Jake -- that was a completely asinine thing to say.

Yeah, well...I feel the same way Chris posted below...he's a celebrity, and he chose to act the way he did on a nationally televised TV show watched by MILLIONS of people...only Richard Hatch chose to run around naked.
However, on that note, I think it's best that I say no more on the subject...and refrain from making similar comments in the future.
-
Resisting the temptation to fire again, I'll just remind people that there's a difference between what we do, which is controllable, and what we are, which is not. (And if you think that particular "principle" of his life is controllable, well, that's a flamewar for a different board.)

Does either one of these things matter? You made a tasteless comment, but you apologized the offended party for it (though it's a little short from I apologize to anyone I've offended). There really shouldn't be a lingering issue for anyone.
The point is Richard Hatch is a dumbass who deserves to be jailed.

[/quote]Luck had nothing to do with it. Richard Hatch thinks he's smarter than anyone he comes across. It just happens that he was able to bully his way through the inaugural season of "Survivor," but players who knew his tricks didn't fall for it.
He knew there were taxes to pay, because I don't believe any smart person could go that dumb on a single topic. He thought he could outsmart the system, and found out that's untrue. Oops.

Da Perf makes a BBB run? (besides I'm sure there are a few guys higher on *THAT* ladder...)
A cursory glance at the RICO laws would suggest that maybe he was tried under that set of rules (RICO has a wide umbrella, not just racketeering). I suppose the judge wants to make an example out of Rich (or punish him for being so stupid/arrogant to accept then walk away from a plea bargain).

Never use "reality" and "Richard Hatch" in the same sentence:
U.S. District Judge Ernest Torres said he believed Hatch had repeatedly committed perjury on the witness stand during his trial in January.
"There's no nice way to say it: Mr. Hatch lied," Torres said, later adding that Hatch took a serious offense and made it worse by offering deliberately false testimony.
When Hatch was convicted, Torres said he expected to sentence him to 33 months to 41 months. Instead, he gave him 51 months.
D'oh! I'll see your 33 months and raise you 18.
He appeared upbeat after learning he was headed to prison for more than four years, shaking hands with his lawyers and greeting family members, then calling out, "See you later, Mom."
"Just make sure my birthday cake has a file in it." My son the convict.
"What it looks like to me is he still doesn't get it" U.S. Attorney Robert Clark Corrente told reporters outside court.
Really, counselor? What gave you that notion?
Hatch's attorney, Michael Minns, portrayed him as a bumbling bookkeeper overwhelmed with sudden fame and wealth who never intended to commit a crime. Minns said Hatch was appealing and had told the truth at trial.
Hatch was also sentenced to three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay taxes still owed for 2000 and 2001 and to undergo counseling.
Richard Hatch, meet Henry Block.
He abruptly walked away from a plea deal with prosecutors
You can take the plea bargain, or you can take what's inside cell number 1435. Richard got zonked.
It takes all kinds, I guess.

Not even close. When all you guys team up and go "Beetlejuice -- Beetlejuice -- Beetlejuice" and, you know, Beetlejuice shows up? It's not Beetlejuice's fault.
Trolls are the ones that do the instigating, not the ones that react to it. We know that a bunch of you say would love to be rid of Zach, but you insist on going about it in precisely the wrong way.
-
In this case, you are absolutely right, but how many times has Zach BEEN the instigator? Far more times than I can count.

Now, I know this thread devolved into a feeding Zach thread, but I'm wondering why even feed Soria? It's a pretty well-known fact that he likes to find things to bitch about and go trying to stir the pot, when nothing was there to begin with. He's your textbook example who tries to act tough on the Internet, and get a rise out of others. Ignore him, and he might just go back to his relative obscurity. Although, I'd love to know why he even posts here, when he's made it pretty clear he's too good for this group...I mean, why post when we're nothing but "otaku".*
