According to Zap2it.com, NBC has decided to yank "Celebrity Cooking Showdown" from the lineup for tonight and tomorrow. On Friday, "Deal or No Deal" will air in its place (new or rerun yet to be announced).
Hardly surprising, due to the lackluster ratings.

I haven't seen the show (and I guess probably won't), but with reality shows, you never know whats gonna work and what won't. If only Bruno Gerussi had been alive to host, maybe it would have worked.

Well, no, in this case you pretty much looked at it and said "Ya know, they changed JUST enough of Iron Chef to not get sued." Then you realized that Alan Thicke is a ninny and they pulled the hooting and hollering audience straight out of a DoND taping and wondered what idiot thought this was a good idea.
Plus, anytime I turn on my TV and Tom Arnold standing there doing that idiotic nervous bounce of his is bound to end in tears. That guy would be on a streetcorner with a "WILL TELL BAD JOKES FOR FOOD" sign if he hadn't banged out Roseanne.

Would the Friday night showing of Deal or No Deal in question be the Miss USA show, just as a lead in to the Miss USA Pagent tomorrow? For my sake I hope it is, 'cause I missed it.
-
And there's a tinge of "Last Comic Standing 3" in this move as well. Tonight is the "championship" cook-off, with the winners from the first 3 nights. There's a national vote after tonight's show, with the winner planned to have been announced in Friday night's show -- during which the three pro chefs would have their own competition.
Did they have any impromptu new ending about how the winner would be determined?
They also axed tonight's final for extra Will & Grace and Earl episodes.

Given the cavalier way that NBC treats their reality shows (they've now got two notable examples of pulling shows before their finals have aired) it's even more amazing to me that they've managed to treat DoND as well as they have.

I went there and the show is available. Under the media player is a disclaimer about how circumstances after the show's taping will not allow a phone vote to occur.
-
Two things --
It *is* the Miss USA episode, and even though you're correct, Zach, I consider that apples to oranges. LMaD was not pulling consistent 9s and 10s, IIRC.
Semi-on-topic: Deal will be going syndie. 'Bank' on it.

Not that anyone here cares, I'm sure, but NBC will be airing the final 2 episodes of 'Showdown' (the ones originally scheduled for tonight and tomorrow) on Saturday night (from 8-10 ET/PT, I believe).
In other scheduling news, Deal has been extended to 2 hours on Monday 5/15. and it will be pre-empted by Dateline the following Friday.

True that (although CBC's doubleheader is only on Friday--you just have Carolina/Montreal [CBC] and Buffalo/Philadelphia [OLN] to choose from for the night games Saturday, which could both be over as COOKING's airing out your way).
Luckily for me, Center Ice and MLB Extra Innings share channel space on my system (and I would assume on others), so as long as I have MLBXI, I also get hockey. It helps when I'm not in the "most of the nation" that will see NY Rangers/New Jersey Saturday. :)

As a fan of the show, I'll point out:
1) Friends is owned by Warner Brothers, which makes all decisions regarding the DVDs -- NBC has nothing to do with that.
2) Friends ever fell out of the Nielsen top five except the first season, which finished at number 8. You're think NBC would cancel a show like that? You see, they make more money that way.

Speaking of which, another Barker's Beauty (I think -- she's listed as such on Wikipedia and one of her web sites, but isn't listed on IMDB) Alexandria Karlsen will also be dropping her duds again (she's already been a Playboy Playmate) -- she's be appearing in Penthouse in June. This may be a TPIR first.
If she, in fact, isn't a Barker's beauty, feel free to note as such.
