Has a contestent ever bid one dollar less than another contestent and get the price exactly right?
-
i imagine the next person bid one dollar more than the first person, and the first person was exactly right, if thats what you mean.

Yes, a handful of contestants have won with this bad strategy of all bad strategies in Contestant's Row(the only way to win in that case is to get the IUFB price exactly right)

Wrong, whoserman.
This is what they mean:
Contestant C: $699
Contestant D: $900
Contestant E: $1,350
Contestant F: $1,349
*ding ding ding*
One of you is exactly right...it goes to the contestant who bid $1,349!

Along the same lines, I remember years ago Bob mentioning that never had all four contestants bid within one dollar of each other. In other words, it would go like this:
500-501-502-503.
Finally one day it happened - and they had all overbid! It was a funny moment - I think it may have been from the early '80s.

This actually happened on the repeat the other day (I can't remember if it was yesterday or the day before), which I think was the impetus for the original message.
