Title: Syndie game shows that aired in NY (84/85 season)
Post by: Ryan_Conley194 on June 02, 2005, 08:17:34 PM
This may be a difficult question to answer but here it is....

I know that Jeopardy first aired on WNBC late at night before begin moved to WABC in the afternoon imediately after Edge of Night got the axe.  I know that there were 9 other game shows that were given the syndie treatment during the 1984-85 season.

what i want to know is which NY stations (WCBS, WABC, WNBC, WNEW, WPIX or WOR) aired Wheel Of Fortune, The Joker's Wild, Tic Tac Dough, Family Feud, Anything for Money, Every Second Counts, Guilty or Innocent, $100,000 Name that tune, $ale Of The Century and All New Let's Make A Deal?

WCBS aired All New Let's Make A Deal at 9 am, Anything For Money at 9:30 am, and syndicated Wheel of Fortune at 7:30 pm.

WABC aired $100,000 Name That Tune at 10:30 am from Sept-Dec 1984, then moved to 4:30 pm for Jan-Aug 1985.

$ale Of The Century (syndie version) aired on WOR at 8:30 pm.

Family Feud (syndie version) aired on WNBC at 7:30 pm.

Every Second Counts didn't air in the NY market on any station.

Anything you'd like to add to that laundry list?

(1984-85 season): WCBS aired Wheel, Anything for Money, and LMAD. WNBC aired Feud. WABC aired Tune. WWOR aired TJW, TTD, and $ale. I don't know what stations aired ESC or Guilty in NYC.

From a Feb 85 issue of TVG, WCBS had LMAD and AFM from 9-10am and WOF at 7:30.  WNBC had FF at 7:30 and they also showed "Treasure Hunt" at 3am.  WNEW had no game shows.  WABC had J! and NTT from 4-5pm.  WOR had TJW and TTD from 2-3pm, DG and NG from 3-4pm and $OTC at 8:30pm.  No games on WPIX at that time.  ESC apparently went unsold in NYC and GoI was out of production at the time of this listing.

No, because you didn't ASK for Love Connection.

My, you're inquisitive.

Love Connection was on at 4pm on WNBC, right before People's Court.

I have seen this question asked before and was just curious as to why someone would want to know the times a show aired over twenty years ago? I am not mocking you but curious as to the reasoning behind the question.

Apparently it's "fun to reminice".

(Yeah, I still don't get it either.)

My thought is that everything is important to someone; but, beyond that, a lack of clearance in NYC may explain why ESC didn't get renewed.
