Title: Best Game Show "Laugher"...
Post by: TimK2003 on April 19, 2005, 08:04:08 PM
Watching the current week of Password+ on GSN, I have heard some good belly laughs coming out of Tom Kennedy's mouth in recent days.  And while we are on the eve of the infamous "French" ep, where Tom really loses it, I came up with this pondering:

Which Game Show host has/had the most natural and most entertaining laughter?

In the giggle category, Bill Cullen gets my vote, while for good belly laughs, I have to toss it up between Tom & Chuck Woolery.

Other nominations???

I agree, especially on TK. My ears can spot his laugh anywhere!

Then again, I just now thought of Peter Tomarken losing it on PYL after the lady mortician told of putting an ear in her husband's lunch!

Cordially,
Tammy Warner--the 'Gina Hecht of the Big Board!'

I'd also give a nod to Cullen...if you've ever seen the clip of him chatting w/Child's Play kid Ronald Blair Wilkenson (as featured on the 1st TV's Funniest GS Moments special from 84), you'll know what I mean. :-)

And I can give you an example of the worst GS laughter: Bill Armstrong...was it just me, or did that guy have the most annoying laugh ever?

My vote goes to Chuck Woolery. I swear my teacher and him have the same exact laugh. Every time my teacher made a funny and started laughing, I had flashbacks of Chuck laughing at a bad pun on "Scrabble."

Chuck does have a pretty hearty laugh.....Especially during some of the bloopers, such as his trainwrecked conversation with Aaron (who was Jewish, and Chuck asked him how he planned to celebrate Christmas)..

Hands down, our pal Geoff Edwards. We discussed this not long ago in one of his threads.

I'm gonna have to go with Marc Summers.   You couldn't help but laugh along with his high pitched guffaws, especially during the Double Dare obstacle course segment with the little rower guy. :)

I'd also say Marc Summers [what child of the 80's DOESN'T remember his falsetto laugh???] and Gene Rayburn [probably my personal fave].

I have to say Marc Summers and Tom Kennedy (judging about what I saw today on Password Plus). I grew up watching Summers so I know about his classic laugh.

Bill Cullen had the most infectious giggle I've ever heard! I just can't help but chuckle when I hear him laugh.
My other vote also goes to Tom Kennedy. It doesn't matter how many times I watch the French blooper, his laugh will always crack me up.

My first though was Marc Summers. His laugh is very infectious.

I'd say Gene Rayburn, too.  I especially like his lower-pitched laugh when he's up to something or had just thrown out a double-entendre.  Classic!!

Johnny Olsen also had a great laugh!  I was watching a 1976 episode of The Price Is Right the other night and Bob was goofing around with a contestant in Contestant's Row.  Johnny could clearly be heard, on-mic, laughing right along with the audience.

OK, now I'm getting all nostalgic again for the olden days of The Price Is Right (or even the olden days of Game Show Network, when they had the TPIR rerun rights)....

On some episodes of MG, you can hear Johnny O laughing while doing the intro, if he finds something to be funny on one of the index cards....For example, the one episode I have from '74 has Richard's card saying "I Love Johnny Olsen"..Johnny sneaks in a "Thank you, Richard", and then when Patty Deutsch's card says "I love Mrs. Olsen", Johnny chuckles a bit..

Def Marc Summers as well...I have a 1987 ep where a contestant thought that inventor OA North came up w/"the boogie man", and he launched into that TM laugh before humorously pondering who really did invent the boogie man.

Richard Dawson's another one, the September incident being a prime example...he actually did it again, near the end of the network run, though this contestant's response was far less funny, IMO...
