Where did you find this?  I got word about this a bit ago from a few people emailing me, but I've been looking for official sources for quite some time now.  I have it under rumor control now, but if it's official, I'd like to post that.

Sure, I'll tell ya where....for fi' dollahs.
All jesting aside, it's on the corporate site. Email me if you still can't find it.

On a side note, I just checked out the Buzzer and I'm wondering: has GSN corporate ever posted a rumor? If not, then I really don't believe this should have been considered a "rumor."
Starting rumors isn't my style.

How'd that one go? Since it's not even in the EOTVGS, is it one of those "semi-game shows" or just a strange omission?

It had game show elements as it was co-produced by Merrill Heatter Productions, but it also had family and friend reunion elements, plus a "Fantasy Truck" segment where the truck went to someone's home to give them or a relative a "Fantasy" prize, if they had written to the show beforehand. Some shows had an unknown singer singing a song. It was done in association with Columbia Pictures, and The "Fantasy Fountain" segment played a bit like the Diamond Head Game bonus round, in that a contestant would go into the fountain, and could keep whatever cash they could get in the pouch in 20 or 30 second.

Fantasy was a really fun show to watch....And like Zach said, it had game show elements to it as well. Timeslot-wise, it was the forerunner to MG/HS (airing from 3pm-4pm EST).

Fantasy was kinda like the Truth or Consequences of the early 80s, except it added a dash of variety show and a bigger dash of game show (compared to the Barker's Box segment on T or C) elements to the mix.

It was more like a cross between Truth Or Consequences and Fun Factory.

To pop everybody's fantasies, we all know it will only be shows like Millionaire, Poker, and Lingo that make the list.

No doubt 'Millionaire' and 'Lingo' will be on there. Perhaps a rarer classic will make the cut this time around, you never know.
Before anyone brings up Bullseye making the cut in '03, that really wasn't a legitimate reflection of the GSN viewing populace's feedback; it won by virtue of ballot-box slamming.

Too bad.

Anyhow, if said people (I believe they were individuals on this board, and possibly even within this thread) were to get behind a show...I'd vouch for Go or Eye Guess, assuming GSN has an episode of it.

Said person is involved on this thread because I am he. Since it's been 3 years, I feel it's safe to disclose what happened.

The online voting system was circumventable in such a way that I was able to place a total of anywhere between 1,500 - 2,000 votes for Bullseye easily.
This little quirk about the voting system was brought to my attention by The Second Gunman of this little "conspiracy," and he might chime in on this if he wishes. He voted for other shows, but I focused strictly on Bullseye with a little Break the Bank thrown in for a bit.

The smattering of Bullseye votes, combined with the votes that were actually legitimate, resulted in Bullseye's #6 position, a bit higher than intended. The goal for Bullseye was to be #9 or #8.
I suppose GSN's way of getting back was to pick 2 episodes of the Celebrity version, one of which was with Patrick Wayne guest starring, of all people.
I can tell you that if it's possible to break the system again this November, I wouldn't do it. Once was enough. :-D

Anyhow, back to the subject at hand. I don't believe Eye Guess has ever been on the list since there aren't 2 known existing episodes of it to show. Other shows have been believed to be in the same boat when in fact they are not:
The claim has run rampant over the years that only one episode of Personality exists when in fact there are two. GSN has shown episode #542 from 7/29/69, but there's also episode #437 from 2/69.
Perhaps GSN has both of these and would've shown them if by some miracle it won out.

The Winning Streak pilot, recorded May 5, 1974, is still around along with the 8/9/74 episode. Same story for Blankety Blanks.

Go and Break the Bank would get my vote. And on that note, good night moon.

Those sound like good one's to me.  I'd love to see anything from the Bob Stewart library other than Pyramid.  GO and Double Talk are among my top choices to see.  I'm sure if we were to vote for Chain Reaction, and if it were to win...the new version is what I'm sure GSN would air.  Break the Bank would also be a good addition, since we have already seen Bullseye (which was disappointing...being celeb episodes), Tic Tac Dough and The Joker's Wild.

I'm all for Break the Bank. I got into that quite a bit with the trades I did last year. Matter of fact, I even used that format quite often when I was doing test reviews this year for my math classes. And the kids love it. So if everyone's gonna get behind the Bank, I'll back you. Just tell me when and where.

In the meantime, I really hope that between this and the 50 Greatest marathon (which, of course, will be slightly marred by only being those shows that they have the rights to air, which is sad for Price), I really hope that fan interest is there enough to get a couple of these shows back in the lineup. I miss TTD and Joker terribly, and I would love to see them again on a regular basis. And I'm sure we'd all especially love to see just how much of the original CBS run of Joker they actually have. Maybe get all the way to the end this time...?

Not sure what else I'd want to see right now. Maybe Treasure Hunt, especially the 70s... I'd have to look through their list and think about it.

Yeah; count me in for seeing "Break the Bank" as well.  Aside from clips I've been able to view here and there, many from Jamie's website (thanks a bunch, BTW!), I've never really seen the show.  It looks like a fun concept, especially the original run w/Tom Kennedy...the whole "play against the clock" thing on Barry's version just didn't seem to mesh well for me; it looked pretty much like a lottery game show when they were running out of time.

Of course, throwing in some jokers, stop signs, or klunks wouldn't be too bad, either...:)

This is all I will say in regards to the July 4 Top 10 Countdown, but FWIW, there will be a whole episode posted on that day. Its position on the the Top 10 List is something y'all will have to "tune in" to find out.
I'm actually really happy this won.

Now if only people can back the show on a much grander scale on GSN come Thanksgiving...

I suppose if GSN really wanted to get back, they could have ignored the votes and dropped it from the list.  I'm glad they didn't, but since I doubt the results were being tallied by an outside firm, theorietically they didn't have to air what was actually on the list.  No-one would really know, would they?

On GSN's old "Wild World of Games" they stated that only one episode of Personality exists.  At the time it was probably true since the other wasn't known at that point.  I wonder if these "discoveries" are actually making their way to GSN's library.  For example, we all know there's a studio master of Blank Check's third episode in existence which GSN should have, since they own the Barry-Enright library.

Agreed.  While I'd love to see the CBS Joker's Wild back on the schedule at some point, my "most wanted" show for GSN right now is Break the Bank.  Let's hope we get to see it again...

These aren't really "discoveries" at all. They've existed in non-GSN collections, mostly private ones, for years.
The dozen or so that found their way onto the trading circuit last year don't even represent a quarter of what's around. If GSN didn't have Blank Check , The Reel Game , or even How's Your Mother In Law then, I rather doubt they'd have gone through the trouble of getting them by now.

That is, unless David Schwartz prodded someone into snagging them up.
But even if they do have them, I doubt they'd ever air them. Perhaps someone with a connection to Mr. Schwartz can clarify as to whether or not GSN has been holding out.

It did cover all then-available versions of "TPIR."  When the license period ended, they all went back to Pearson.  (God, it was so long ago that Pearson hadn't become Fremantle yet.)
