I get that it would be unlikely/impossible for various reasons, but I'd love for the show to go to various cities around the country.
/was disappointed that my one cab ride in NYC over Thanksgiving 2016 did not have the driver peppering Mumsy and me with general knowledge questions on the way to our destination.

Doesn't sound that impossible...call it the "Cash Cab Road Trip", and do it in bigger cities like Chicago, LA and Miami. Maybe throw Vegas in there.
-
They did do a week of episodes from Las Vegas! Various celebrities (Penn&Teller, Wayne Newton and the like) played for charity.
It just seems like a lot of work for an unknown payoff, but presumably lots of those issues are easier/less expensive than they were ten years ago.
It's still a great format ten years later, and it doesn't require a lot of money or artifice--just fun friendly folks answering trivia questions.

Seems like Ben isn't on board, or they would have mentioned this in the PR. Definitely was half of what made the show, but I'm willing to give a new host a shot.
As for going around the country, seems like Uber or Lyft would chomp at the bit for a set-up like this.

I think this Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/RealBenBailey/photos/a.399081153466147.91409.220942527946678/1545732718800979/?type=3) may confirm your suspicions.

But not Bethel, Alaska (which actually has more cabs per capita than any U.S. city)!
BTW, the Variety article says a host for the new Cash Cab has yet to be found (Billy Bush, anyone?).

Point 1 - I would wish for Sarah Palin to get into a cab to hear her answers.
Point 2 - Bite your tongue!

You know so many things. I can hardly wait for your next trivia tidbit.

1. Because if they were going to Alaska, clearly they'd bypass Anchorage, Juneau or even Fairbanks.
2. Yeah...I'm thinking they're gonna go after someone who's not six months removed from a controversy involving the now-president. Also...that's not a good pick.

My guess is that it's the only/next name he could think of that had two Bs.
-
Ben Bailey is not pleased.

That'd really be a shame if Ben Bailey wasn't on board.
-
They had a spin-off series set in Chicago--the driver was fine, but not the same.

If two Bs are the qualification to drive the Cash Cab, may I suggest Scarlett Johannson?
Forget it. She's clearly at least a C-cup.

The idea of having a different host for every episode didn't seem plausible in the first place. Welcome back, Ben!

The new episodes started airing earlier this month. There's a lot of changes worth noting:
- There's updated graphics and music throughout, but no big changes compared to the original show.
- Visual questions are now part of the game.
- Biggest gameplay change: the mobile shout-out is gone, replaced by a social media shout-out where Ben starts a Facebook Live session that the contestants can consult for help.
- Celebrities will now join regular contestants at least once an episode to help with the game; the two episodes I saw had Scott Bakula and Gilbert Gottfried, respectively.
- Annoyingly, there's now pre-show and pre-break segments that all but spoil what's going to happen during the show/after the break.
- The pacing's also a lot slower - where the old show would have squeezed in three sets of contestants, the new show never gets more than two sets into an episode.
All things considered, it's a bit more annoying than original-recipe Cash Cab, but it's still a decent enough way to spend a half hour.

The new episodes started airing earlier this month.
And they're going to finish airing this Sunday. After the first week, the show got pulled.
It sucks it got cancelled, but there was nothing that made it objectively better than the original, and I'd argue it was slightly worse. Also, 10PM prime time was a terrible spot.

Where did you hear/see this? I searched online, but I see no news articles in 2017 mentioning anything about the current reboot getting cancelled.

Nor was anything pulled after the first week; new episodes aired last Sunday and two more will this Sunday.
Considering the two weeks that follow are Christmas and New Year's I think calling a cancellation is significantly premature.

A heads up/FYI:
If you have a Roku or similar device, and can get the DiscoveryGO channel, you can see a couple of episodes of the new Cash Cab -- no strings attached. If you tag your cable/satellite provider, you can also watch the last several seasons of the original Cash Cab on demand.
-
Speaking of DiscoveryGO, that channel will premiere a new five-episode series called "Cash Lift", which is pretty much "Cash Cab" but set in a hotel elevator ...

Saw a couple of eps last night. The hosts remind me of 5-cup-of-coffee radio morning show playing WWTBAM on an elevator.
/Was the show shot on an Otis???
