Sounds like it'll be fun, although I'm surprised Concentration is nominated for Favorite Classic Game Show.
Not that it's a bad show (I love it to death), but I've never heard a word about Concentration on GSN other than during the 50 Greatest special, and it doesn't particularly seem like their target audience would even remember or know about it.
-
Doesn't every kid play the "Concentration" card game at one time or another?
-
When I was little and I saw "Memory" from Milton Bradley the first time, I was like "What? This is Concentration. Where's the rebus?"
-
Criminy, Burton Richardson got a nomination, but John O'Hurley DID NOT?!?!? Who did the nominating process? The Ghost of Cliff Norton, maybe?
Cordially,
Tammy
-
Is it just me or are there WAY too many nominees in each category?
-
The crew at Buzzer has the full list of categories and nominations. Some of these are really strange.

Alex obviously doesn't agree.
And I agree with his point of the one glaring omission- the one HUGE, GLARING EFFING OMISSION- in the contestant category.
EDIT: does this warrant a "we can do it better ourselves" kind of deal?

And even if you wanted to single out the smarties, I think you should have had a "luckiest" category as well. Ms. Lowenstein should be represented somewhere.

The Game Show Awards would be interesting IF only I had digital cable in my parent's basement. Aw, crap!
Seriously. if William Shatner wins the Best Celebrity Player award, I'll do a tripple facepalm. My money's riding on NPH.
As for some of the interesting categories:
Favoritte Parting Gift: Gotta go with the Rice-a-Roni though a home game version isn't that bad a prize in its own right.
Best Sound EFfect: Can't go wrong with the classic Bankrupt whistle.
Best Prize: Cash is good, but a New Car is even better.
Aw, I was hoping to see any Samoan attacking Barker in the Funniest Momments category, but Yolanda will have to do.
Best Game Show Theme: TPIR though I could make a case for WoF's original theme from Alan Thicke. That was a good theme. Tuning Up should've been up there instead of the $25K one. Oh well.

Good idea, have a GSN party on 6/6
Seriously, though, are these airing live or taped ahead? It didn't say jack on the site anything about that. I would think live being an awards show, but does GSN have the ability to do this live? They aren't CBS/ABC/NBC/FOX and might not have the crew to pull that one off.

Almost certainly not live. It's just easier and safer to do these sorts of things in advance, even a few days in advance. They gain nothing by doing it live, and they set themselves up for disaster if something goes wrong. Lots of made-for-TV awards shows are taped in advance (note this Sunday's TV Land Awards).
-
According to this page (http://\"http://www.sonyrewards.com/en/dream_prize/electronicsstimulusp/\"), it's being taped on Saturday, May 16.
-
I looked at the list of categories, and at least IMHO, two categories that SHOULD be there and aren't are classic host and classic panelist/regular. The classic host should be other than those eligible this year. Since they seem to be listing in groups of 10, here's my Top Ten list of Classic Hosts:
Bob Barker
Dick Clark
Bill Cullen
Richard Dawson
Bob Eubanks
Monty Hall
Tom Kennedy
Allen Ludden
Peter Marshall
Gene Rayburn
For classic panelist/regular:
Arlene Francis
Dorothy Kilgallen
Betsy Palmer
Bill Cullen
Kitty Carlisle
Orson Bean
Joan Alexander
Paul Lynde
George Gobel
Richard Dawson
I realize GSN may not want to do the latter category since it mostly relates to the B&W shows they just yanked off. But I think it would be a nice touch if they at least acknowledge these people.
-
Looks like Howie Madel will be hosting the awards show.

-
By June 6th, the air date, GSN will have the promos for DOND ready to air throughout this show, no doubt. Great cross-promotion, and Howie should have no trouble handling this gig.
-
It looks like the Awards will be playing real games with casted contestants (http://\"http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/tfr/1144617283.html\").
-
The GSN Radio gang mentioned that Tom Bergeron will be the one handling the Bob Barker award.
-
I think I heard listening to GSN Radio yesterday that the awards will be streamed on GSN Radio as well. I don't know if it will be at the same time as the initial airing on GSN though.
-
It was announced by Bob Goen on GSN Radio today that Richard Dawson will be a part of the Game Show Awards.
-

Wow, there's a surprise.
This would be his first public appearance in what 15 years?
-
I'm sure other hosts will be on as presenters if anything else. We know Monty and Bob Barker will be there. It's probably safe to bet that Wink, Chuck W. Bob Eubanks and possibly more will be there.
-
The GSN Radio gang mentioned that Tom Bergeron will be the one handling the Bob Barker award.
This most likely won't happen, but given the latest rumors and reports, I hope Tom gives Bob his award by saying "Betty White was supposed to be here, but we got a last minute call saying she couldn't make it." Just to see the look on Bob's face would be worth it.
-
I'm not so sure about Dawson being there. The Radio gang advertised Richard Karn from Family Feud, and the only place I've seen/heard Dawson mentioned is someone's account on the Buzz.

This show is dreadful. If it improved a bit, it could suck.
If you don't like game shows, and you don't know anything about game shows, why on earth would you produce an awards show for game shows?
To honor Mark Goodson and not Bill Todman? To break up the "honors" with stupid games that give prizes to "contestants" in the audience? It's okay to not like game shows -- a lot of people don't like game shows and they're fine people -- but don't waste your time and ours doing a mockery of game shows on GSN.
I'm very disappointed.

I'll second the "Say WHAT?". I thought maybe he would pull off best host, because he was there so (in this awards show) he was obviously there for a reason. When it came down to the last category and he had still not appeared I thought "Are you kidding me?", knowing that he was the winner of that award.
Maybe TPiR actually won and they couldn't get Drew to appear (and Bob accepting for it may cause confusion/riots) so they decided to go with Foxworthy and 5th Grader :p

Holy freaking cow. You're STILL stewing over this? I got over this weeks ago. It ain't like Barker committed murder or anything.
You are starting to sound like a fanatical stalker. This obsession of yours is genuinely scary.
-
Anyone have a link to that Access Hollywood piece? with Howie & Barker in bed where Barker makes the comments about the models?
-
It was an "uneven" awards show that had its hits and misses. They had a Classic Game Show award but not a Classic Host award, and there's enough of them still around for them to do it. Martindale, Marshall, Woolery, Eubanks, Lange, Kennedy, Perry, Edwards, maybe a couple of more. I didn't include Barker and Hall since they got awards. Howie was a good host, but I would've liked to see more awards and less games.
Not to take anything away from Rich Fields, but you know who I think would have made a GREAT announcer - Gary Owens. Hell, he even hosted a couple of game shows. Imagine the intro - "From beautiful downtown Hollywood . ."
-

-
^ Gary wasn't nominated to begin with, but yeah, he's better than Rich. I wonder if the winners of the "unaired" awards will get them, like Kathy Cox and Betty White. In Betty's case, I think it would be a nice olive branch to extend to her. Were these announced and not aired, or are these just the results of the GSN polls? I'm curious about that.

This doesn't make the first damned bit of sense.

Since Chris prefaced the quoted passage with "And while I do not speak for Joe", I suspect he's addressing Scrabbleship, for whom Dr. Don prescribes a cold compress and lots of rest.
