Title: WML?
Post by: GSFan on March 13, 2006, 10:36:33 PM
Just caught the 12th Anniversary show in which Bennett says he hosted an episode that John Daly missed.  Is that episode in the GSN lineup?

It has been shown; Cerf filled in a couple of times when Daly was out of town (or the country) on news assignments.

I recall reading that Daly was absent for only four shows during the entire 17-year run.  Bennett hosted a couple.  I'm pretty sure I saw an episode hosted by Eamonn Andrews (the host of the UK version), and I'm not sure about the other.

Here is the rundown on John Daly's four absences, courtesy of this WML? guide (http://\"http://www.geocities.com/mcarroyo86/\").

9/29/1957- Bennett Cerf fills in
4/13/1958- Clifton Fadiman fills in
4/20/1958- Fadiman again fills in
6/28/1959- Eamonn Andrews (British WML? host) fills in

Bennett only hosted once, not twice.

And that once was enough. He was better than Henry Morgan on IGaS, however.

Yes, but that must have been the time that industrialist Henry Kaiser was the MG, and panelist Ernie Kovacs asked him if his name appeared on an automobile, and Kaiser said yes, and Kovacs said with a straight (blindfolded) face: "Are you Abraham Lincoln?"

Well, *I* thought it was funny ...
