I managed to find a page with a clean clip of Maynard Ferguson's \"Give It One\" (which, of course, was used on the Edd Byrnes pilots) at this page:
http://www.trumpetboredom.com/required (http://\"http://www.trumpetboredom.com/required\")
That's if anyone's interested.

Again, with apologies for having no access to a reputable provider with high/no bandwidth limits:
http://www.geocities.com/splitsecond1973/GiveItOne.mp3 (http://\"http://www.geocities.com/splitsecond1973/GiveItOne.mp3\")
Anyone want to host this one as well?
Kudos, as well, to DrBear, for identifying the tune. To anyone who's brave enough to try some of that risky peer-to-peer file sharing, I'd recommend also downloading a full cut of Maynard Ferguson's rendition of \"Birdland\". I think it would make a good Whew! theme, if not so dated. The portion that would become the Gauntlet of Villains cue should be pretty self-evident, around the middle of the track.

Wow! Thanks, I had been looking all over the internet and stores seeing if any of his CD's carried this theme, and not only that, if they were actually in stock! COOL music!

Heavens to murgatroyd, I may have started an MF Horn revival!

I tried my luck and got it off Kazaa :-|. If anyone wants it, they can post or ill post it on one of the yahoo groups. BTW, ive also done an edit to the opening.
Also, wondering what the music is when Ed is telling us what the contestant won, at the end of the show. It fades out as he spins \"the wheel of fortune\" and then it goes into the theme.

I just got it and the song is a hot mess. Thank God they went with Thicke's theme.

Well, I wouldn't call it a bad song by any means. It just doesn't really fit on a game show.
Nobody could hum the theme!
-
i dont really like the brass that much, some of it is ok but the riff used for the opening on the opening, and (as i guess the contestant intros since it started after Susan was speaking) is pretty cool

I play in a big band, as you may know, and we have \"Give It One\". We played it just a few weeks ago. I heard the clip of the WOF pilot closing and I recognized the music as something we played.

Muchos gracias.
\"Give It One\" is an odd fit for Wheel in almost any era.

It kinda reminds me of the lame excuses they've used for a theme song the past few years on Wheel.
I personally could see it as a theme on a game, but not WOF.

I think I am the only one that sees \"give it one\" an actual chance as the theme for WOF; and considering the crap I heard in the past 6 years (after the big band \"Changing Keys\", it all went south...I miss the Big Band theme), I miss having a great big band theme on WOF, and its better than the mess we've heard for 6 years!

Probably. Now, it's an interesting song, but it's all over the place and seems messy.

And what a terrible theme that big band one was. The one after that was the last good one, IMO.

No, it isn't.

Coming in a little late here, but since we're talking about Wheel themes, does anyone happen to know where I could get my hands on Big Wheels?

Speaking on behalf of those of us who bought the second game show theme CD and are keen on the possibility of seeing a THIRD game show CD:
Go buy the second game show CD.

In the meantime, my car is low on gas. Anybody know where I can go to fill up?

Here you go. This copy isn't off the Game Show CD. So the quality might be a little better. You can pick it up here. Enjoy!

I firmly keep my standpoint on that. It angers me whenever I get requests for tracks off the 2nd GS CD for free. I've gotten a bit more than handful (perhaps 10) and every time I explain (in less and less detail each time) how people in our community worked on it, and that it being a commercial success is kinda sketchy...and then they ask again for the track. Ugh.

John: Thanks! I've been looking for that song for almost two years, since my first hard drive went bad and I lost all my files.
Jason: I have no desire to get into a fight with anyone on here, so I'll not say anything. Believe me, though, if I ever run across either of those CDs in a store, I'll pick it up.

Simple. Go to your normal petro station, hit the \"Pay Inside\" button, and then after your car is full of gas, drive like you never drove before.
I never said it was a good solution.

Two words: debit card. That's how I pay for groceries with any cash out of pocket.

Is using a debit card paying for it?

FYI, I did catch Matt's point; I was only playing along. OTOH, someone may be lurking on this board who is actually dumb enough to actually take Dan's sarcastic suggestion seriously. I do NOT condone illegal actions, nor does anyone else on this board.
And I did buy both the game show CD's myself, through the GSN store.

Geez. You can't be that serious.
Firstly, how did the debit card comment play into Matt's point? Really, I simply can't fathom it.
Secondly, anybody who has lurked either here or at our previous homes (both ATGS-I and ATGS-II) should know that I tend to make light-hearted responses.
Thirdly, anybody who is dumb enough to drive-off should be arrested anyway.
Finally, I'm confused why you're using my post as a pulpit. You don't speak for everybody when you said \"I do NOT condone illegal actions, nor does anyone else on this board.\" You are taking this waaaaaaay too serious.
And anyway, I personally condone the illegal action of driving 56 in a 55 zone.
