This went under the radar screens, I dare say. Looks like GSN left in the slates, yes, that's right, the slates for the two episodes of Match Game they aired for the debut of "That 70's Hour" last night. And it did not look like an accident, it was very cleanly edited together with the beginning of the show. I caught the second one, link to a screen capture of it is below.

Hope it continues!

I didn't think it looked that much like an accident either as usually with game show master copies, there's at least 30 seconds of black after the slate reading.
Here's an audio clip I made of it:

Also, going into commercial last night was an MG trivia question(how many Daytime Emmys did Gene Rayburn win for MG7x?) and a still shot that looked to be from a ticket plug(CNR's face superimposed with another celeb). On top of that, a snippet from an interview GSN did with Gene, where he mentioned Burt Reynolds was among the celebs who visited MG7x.

Wow. I didn't realize the turning light box was so large!
EDIT: Nice hiccup by Johnny O, btw. lol

More slate madness from last night! (http://\"http://gameshowvideos.com/files/mg0127slate.mp3\") (Was only able to get one, the DVR cut off the other one)

We should hopefully get at least one more slate out of GSN.
If two air... shoot me.

But here's the two (http://\"http://gameshowvideos.com/files/mg0129slate.mp3\") slates (http://\"http://gameshowvideos.com/files/mg0130slate.mp3\") from last night

Darn it. I read the thread yesterday and forgot to watch last night. Oh, well. I hope the fact that they did it the last two nights means they'll do it again tonight.
-
Now if we could only get GSN to stop shrinking the promo cards in the closing credits...

I'd rather have the slates. For me, they're much more of a novelty item.
-
I agree. The slates present a tone of voice that you don't hear too often from Mr. Olson's on-air announcing. And the way he jokes around during some of them (the hiccup before saying "Take 1", for example)...priceless.
It also looks like the Amazin' Slates are not just a weeknight thing. Even though That 70's Hour was pre-empted on Friday, it was there on Saturday night, and so were the slates. And it's scheduled tonight (Sunday night) as well.
So for those keeping track, that's 10 slates so far (Monday through Thursday, and Saturday).
Let's hope it continues.
[Edit: Make that 12. Sunday night's shows had slates 0135 and 136 (yep, no leading zero). From the looks of the schedule, the next time That 70's Hour will be pre-empted is Tuesday night for an immediate reair of the Anything to Win premiere.]

I'm grateful for the slates too, but I'm still obsessed with the promos; especially for products that don't exist anymore. (One of these days I'm going to set up a page with all the screencaps I've collected so far...)

Ah, I'm sure we all wish we'd splurged for a Betamax player back in the day.

I was after my parents to get a home VCR for years before they finally did. Oh well....
-
I got a VCR in 1984. Top loading Fisher VHS that was $700.00, the tapes were $15.00 each.
The slates are nice, fee plugs would be a treat for sure, but I don't mind when they cut the mini-commercials on shows like $100KP. Why should GSN run "spots" for which they are not paid?
-
The slates were especially funny today during the second episode when Johnny-O asks, "What the hell happened here?!?"
That's Johnny-O for ya!
It's such a treat to have this showing late night in the background while I [attempt to] wrap up my homework. ;-D

Saw that too.......Good stuff. :) While I'm not a GSN basher, I certainly applaud this move. Adding the slates definitely is a nice touch.

The only one of those mini-commercials that I miss is the one for the control top pantyhose in which this girl comes on and says she likes all kinds of dessert but she doesn't like tummy bulges. It was only years later that I realized that was the late Dana Plato, of "Diff'rent Strokes" fame, in that little spot.
