GSN has started airing promos for their newest show Emogenius. It starts in June, no specific date mentioned. It reminds me of the classic oldie "Concentration."
-
A video clip in the GSN forum. I hope someone will forgive me.
And sure, I can see a little Concentration here, but it's frankly a pretty clever little puzzle idea in its own right. Could be fun.

Not for nothing, but this might be the first case of a host being the grandson of a host.
-
I got a Catch Phrase vibe from it...I do agree that it's a fun, clever format.

RemInded me of Bumper Stumpers, too. The puzzle concept does seem fun. I hope how they formulate the game is, too.

'Scuse my ignorance, but who is he?
-
Hunter March, grandson of Hal March, as mentioned by Hunter in this Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/Huntermarch/posts/164650463694449) a few years back.
-
All right then!

It's also prominently mentioned on his website. For a kid who wasn't born when grandpa died in 1970, it seems to be a pretty important part of his identity.

He's a "YouTube Personality." (Insert universal "handjob" gesture here.) Pretty much anything that MIGHT link him to the slightest bit of fame or attention is an important part of his identity.

I knew there was a reason I got a crappy Fremantle YouTube game shows vibe from him. Not saying he did those shows, he just had the look.

We have a premiere date. Wednesday, June 7. Be there, aloha.
-
In their latest promos, GSN has pushed back the premiere of Emogenius from June 7 to June 14.
-
So did anyone catch the premiere of this? I thought it was entertaining. What do you think?
-
One of the things I enjoyed was how the host sent off the losing team.
"You're not going home empty handed..."
So they get their banked money?
"You still have each other."
Ouch.

I love the game and some of the trappings (especially the clock-icon for time's up). The Hit Send round and end game are fantastic chances to yell at your fellow humans with impunity.
I really miss permanent on-stage score displays and hosts who would dress up a bit. (That means you too, Frank Nicotero from the mid-2000s.)
On balance I love the game more than I dislike the niggles, and will set the Tivo for it.

Wait, people need an excuse for that?

This. This. All of this. I wrangled a group of friends into watching the premiere with me and damn if we weren't yelling at them to pick the obvious emoji to describe a ski.
Love the play along factor. I hope, like Idiotest, they can continue to come up with fun texts.
