Roger Rose is somewhat well known.  He was a VJ on VH-1 and is the brother of the late ABC newsman and "Split Second" champ Judd Rose.

What Whoserman said. Burton's OK, but Roger and Art I can't imagine being in Burton or Randy's league. Roger I only remember from his 1987-88 work on VH1(back when they played only videos, more in an adult contemporary vein than MTV was playing at the time), and I've not heard of Art Sanders.

My gut instinct tells me that Randy has got the gig locked and it isn't because of all the comments on this board.

Why have him continue to audition if he's the one they want?

Let's just hope Daniel Rosen doesn't get the gig.

Why have anyone continue to audition if he's the one they want?

I think they're just trying to give themselves the widest range possible to choose from when (if) they pick a permanent announcer. As for Daniel Rosen coming back for seven more shows . . . I dunno, studio-wide brain damage resulting from his first stint? Someone lost a bet? He's holding the Shell Game set piece hostage?

Randy himself has said he's doing the announcer/sidekick gig in Reno for a while, so don't worry about our boy, he's not hurting for work, and I hope he's enjoying a watered-down Coke (with perhaps a finger or two of rum in it) in my honor at this moment. :)

Todd isn't hosting the live show at the moment.  The host is Chris Harrison of "The Bachelor."

Why not?

Ever seen a company that interviews for a position and they pretty much know who they want, but still continue to interview people to see if anyone is better?

Quote

No doubt.

I'd still like to hear Bob Hilton and especially Dean Goss. Where's Gary Kroeger?

The fact that Paul Boland was decreed terrible and was never invited back (aside from his remark) and this guy is much worse and comes back says something.

Well, if Roger and Art are like Daniel, The Second Half of Feb. will be very very annoying. Hopefully Burton or Randy will be back in March. Or Hopefully one of them will be good.

It sickens me a little that Fremangle would consider people with zippo game show experience for the TPIR annoucing gig(Art Sanders and Roger Rose come to mind, and Daniel ROsen's only experience was on the Vegas TPIR live shows).

Shortly before Rod passed away, there weren't many, if any audition tapes being sent in.

There might be more tapes being sent in (maybe they just didn't make the cut) than you would think based on who has announced so far.

I'm not too high on a former VJ announcing, but I'd be interested in hearing Art.

I wonder if they advertised the position in a paper somewhere in L.A?

And they aren't considering a full-time announcer?

No, I don't believe you'll find that Randy said any such thing.

As for "Art Sanders", there appears to be a minor Seattle radio personality by that name, but I think there's also a chance that the CBS web site may have gotten the name wrong.  Wouldn't be the first time they've done that.

I don't think Dave would let him go--and considering the taping schedule, he simply couldn't do both shows at once.

I was thinking Alan might do a good job as TPIR announcer, given he did the TPIR ticket plug once (listened to the clip numerous times). I'm another person who thinks he should do the announcer gig.

I heard that Gene Wood is still alive. Maybe HE could be the next permanent announcer on TPIR (It's been 6 years since we last heard him, as we heard him do the consolation prize plugs in the Summer of 1998.)

 Maybe not.

Gene's style was no great shakes for TPiR when he filled in following Johnny Olsen's death. I doubt it's improved.

 1) Last I read, Gene is retired. After all, if he were still in the business, don't you think he'd be doing Feud right now?

2) I don't remember the reason, but I know that the summer 98 gig was just a one-time deal ("one-time" meaning the entire summer of 1998). I think it was just to keep the plugs fresh for summer reruns. I'm probably way off with that, so someone please feel free to correct me

Since they don't seem to want anyone permanent, I'd like to see Johnny Gilbert announce a couple of TPIRs.  Of course, he'd have to remember that there is a different host than when he last announced the show.

You mean, we're gonna say NO to Alan Kalter?

He did a great job doing the Ticket Plug, and I'm confident about it, having listened to the clip on JRJ's site.

So, if he did great with the Ticket Plug, he'll also do well with the remaining announcer duties.

The ticket plug takes, what, 30 seconds to read?  Compared to the entire amount of copy that is required of the announcer, it's a very small percentage.

Was he even in the studio when he recorded the ticket plug?  If not, you can't even compare it.

An article I found on him from Google from last year says that he's 77 (perhaps 78 by now).  That's right, an announcer only a few years younger than Barker.  If the guy can handle it, go for it, but that sure seems weird, especially from Fremantle--but since he still owns the radio stations, he seems to be doing this just for the hell of it.  Maybe he and Barker are golfing buddies.

I don't think age is a factor when you are not on camera.

I would think longevity, more importantly, the right fit, is a consideration.
