Title: Barker special
Post by: Neumms on May 14, 2007, 11:50:55 AM
Anyone know or care to guess who the surprise guest star will be on the Thursday Bob Barker special? Now I realize it's just a few days until it actually runs, but I think it's fun to play along. And when the promo ran during Survivor, my wife seemed disappointed that I didn't know who it was. So. . .

Adam Sandler? Les Moonves? Walter Cronkite? Astronaut Buzz Aldrin? The next host?

I think in one of the online articles posted in the recent days, it was mentioned that Les Moonves would be appearing on one of the shows (not sure which one).  On the promo, they are billing this person as a special guest star...while I'd consider Moonves a special guest, I wouldn't say he's a "star" so they are probably referring to someone else.

That would be like calling Mrs. Les Moonves a "star".

The proper title of Mrs. Moonves is "Star-bot"!

There aren't many *real* good Special Guest Stars available who would fit in with Bob's Tribute show -- Bob has either outlived them or has fired them!

I somehow doubt that they would bring back as a "special guest" any of the women whom Bob just called (http://\"http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2007-05-13-bob-barker_N.htm\") (sidebar) "such a problem" and "disgusting."

The first thing in that article that leaped at me was the above.  Yeah, if I'd been sued, I probably wouldn't have fond memories of them as well.   (I'm not going to make any statement positive or negative in regards to the validity of the suits, just that I wouldn't be happy *either* way).

---

Something else I noticed buried in that article though is that it still lists John O'Hurley as a candidate for host.  That surprised me initially, as the talk had been whittled down to the other 3.  But, a thought: Fremantle & Friends *already* have John under contract for Feud - they wouldn't *need* to pick up an option on him.

Bob really loved it when they shouted "Hit Me!"  There'd be the Temptation to do a Squeeze Play on their Bonkers.  The most fun was at a Swap Meet, where he'd do a Switcheroo.  The hostess at the Swap Meet told the white-haired Joker, "Make Your Move." Luckily, she was a Push Over.  There were some Hurdles, but ol' Bob decided to Line 'em Up and Let 'em Roll.  It was as Eazy as 1-2-3. Bob took all Ten Chances with the hostess, but she finally cried "That's Too Much!" and decided to Cover Up.  As Bob left the party, he tried to get Any Number he could from the other guests, but some would Flip Flop.  He eventually decided to Stack the Deck and Take Two.  (Oh, and did I mention the gardener's name was Golden Road Plinko?)

And if the CSI's ever came in with the black light to Check-Out the blouses, good ol' Professor Price would never be able to Cover Up his Barker's Markers

Does this qualify me to sit in the same row with the rest of the group?

You have way too much time on your hands. Ah heck, good one! (other than the Gardener's name... sheesh!)

But Bob gave a stranger a Bump out of desperation before he decided to Check Out and leave the party and wanted her to take 1/2 Off. She then proceeded to Cover Up after she told Bob that it was going to cost him but then he told her That's Too Much! Bob later thought that was a dumb move since he only had some Pocket Change and a Blank Check!

That won't help -- it'll just give everybody new source material for their puns.

"It took Dave Price Ten Chances, nearly driving him Bonkers, but on a recent episode of 'The Early Show,' he was able to Step Up and hit the Bullseye in correctly predicting the Shower Game."

And so on.

Remember... in one of the many Yahoo groups we've ridiculed, there's a guy who thinks that all he has to do to make something a good pun is to say "rimshot" after it.  So it could be worse. :-)

Three games, one of which is Plinko (it's not a spolier...it's been all over the promos), and a Showcase, I'd presume.
