Variety is reporting (http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/nickelodeon-legends-of-the-hidden-temple-hey-arnold-2016-tv-upfront-1201719422/) that at tomorrow's Nickelodeon upfronts, a telefilm based on Legends of the Hidden Temple will be announced.
As part of a presentation to promote its coming slate of programs, the kids-media empire (comprising several cable networks and more) will unveil a live-action TV movie inspired by its mid-1990s game show “Legends of the Hidden Temple.”
In “Hidden Temple,” three siblings must conquer a series of obstacles to remain alive, mirroring the theme of the original game show. The TV movie, slated to appear in the fourth quarter of 2016, will nod to other elements from the original show, including Olmec, a talking head who knows the secrets behind the temple; The Steps of Knowledge, the entrance to the temple and launching pad for the mission; and cameos from a green monkey, red jaguar, and silver snakes, among others. Isabela Monae, known from her role on Nick’s “100 Things To Do Before High School,” will star.

I'd hope they give Kirk Fogg a cameo- maybe a teacher or professor who aids the kids on their journey?
-
I look forward to the 20-minute scene in which they attempt to assemble the Silver Monkey.
-
I think we've officially reached peak 90's nostalgia.

Legends of the Fuller Temple?

Olmec sends his love, but he's busy in Mesoamerica running his empire.

I don't get it. The appeal of game shows is that you don't know what will happen (though you can bet that the winning team will bungle the monkey statue). A movie is going to have a predetermined result (and it will be that the group escapes just in time.) Hooray that the franchise is continuing, I guess, but this is the wrong vehicle.

They're just using the name basically (with some nods to the show)- it's like what Hasbro has done to some of their brands (like the movies Ouija and Battleship)

Pretty soon you'll see cable networks basing series off popular web videos Oh, wait...
Well, maybe Nickelodeon is better than....oh, wait...

Even that is a vast improvement over basing one on a Twitter feed.

I don't know if I'm following you correctly, but here goes.
If the choice is between William Shatner or a guy pretending to be a hyperactive kid, I'll choose Shatner every time. (Am I right?)
And if I wanna watch a TV show where a guy is playing the role of a young kid, I'll tune into UniMÁS and watch it be done properly. :)

Spot on. But I'm not even comparing the merits of those two shows; merely pointing out that "popular web videos" is probably a better premise to base a TV series on than a series of random fictional quotes.

You might have your wish.

If it helps, The AV Club was able to get some more information out of Mr. Fogg - http://www.avclub.com/article/kirk-fogg-tapped-what-he-says-surreal-return-legen-234180.
At the same time, however - https://twitter.com/deebradleybaker/status/712691636594053121.
Honestly though, I think I once saw a pop culture website "suggest" a Legends Of The Hidden Temple movie as a joke about how 90s remakes are getting out of hand.
EDIT: Dee Bradley Baker has since tweeted again about this - https://twitter.com/deebradleybaker/status/712807065392054272. As best I can tell, the previous tweet saying he had not been invited to voice Olmec has been deleted.

The first trailer came out this weekend as part of San Diego Comic-Con...Yes, it's cheesy as all get out, but love the callbacks to the original show (it's always that $*%@! Silver Monkey)

From Baker's Twitter feed today: Kirk Fogg really doesn't look like Kirk Fogg anymore (at least to me) (http://i.imgur.com/IjfQm64.jpg).

I'm with you there. He looks like a shorter version of Neil Flynn from The Middle.

I'm a little too old to be in the demographic that loved Hidden Temple, though I respect it as a great kids game. Best as I can tell, though, this trailer is pushing all the right nostalgia buttons. And even I got the Silver Monkey joke in the kicker. This is going to be the Nickelodeon equivalent of those original B movies on SyFy. It's not going to be very good, and nobody's going to care about that.

My wife went for the George W. Bush lookalike.

Meh. I don't see too much of a resemblance but everyone interprets stuff differently.
