I haven't seen anything mentioned here yet, but the show's official webpage says to watch this Thursday, April Fool's Day, and find TEN things different at various times during the show.
You can go to http://www.wheeloffortune.com/minisites/aprilfools/ (http://\"http://www.wheeloffortune.com/minisites/aprilfools/\") and download a "worksheet," and jot down what you find different.
This is all just for fun, not a contest.

My guesses on the 4/1 show:
Wheel is only going to use 5,822 colors of light instead of the normal Eleventy Billion?
Instead of the slide whistle, there will be an audio clip of Merv Griffin saying "OOOooooooohh" when the Bankrupt space is hit.
All players must be holding Pom Poms when they yell out their letters, like a cheerleader.
Pat Sajak finally openly ridicules dumb contestants on their letter choices and wrong answers.
Round 1's puzzle will use the Russian Alphabet, Round 2 will be Greek, Round 3 will be Chinese and Round 4 Japanese.
-
Pat actually hits a Bankrupt on the Final Spin.

Would those count as April Fools' things? Some of us might think they be best kept there post April 2! Can't be, the *ahem*'s would know that half the stuff they could do on the show tomorrow would end up looking better and/or coming off better than what they have on a regular basis anymore.

You're kidding me... right?
An april fool's would be more like he flips over the mystery wedge on the final spin and it's $50k per letter.
All contestants pee in their pants because there's 7 friggin T's on the board :)
(the real april fool's is that they left the wedge there after round 3 or they had 2 really, really long rounds and someone keels over from the tossup round).
BTW: I'd dare any wof contestant to buy a "sometimes y" (and really stupid though along with a really puzzled Pat Sajak look). They'd laugh and then the set breaks.

And this is why April Fools Day sucks. Because most people are SO BAD at it.

The April Fools Ten is probably gonna be little things, like the letters on the puzzleboard are blue for a round, or the red-yellow-blue displays are reversed, or the players spin counterclockwise for a round. Little things that don't affect the game. All this silly speculation is just that: silly.
-
*wheel jolts to a sudden stop*
Charlie: ...Uh-oh!
Vanna: You just spun the Sajak! You win 800 million dollars!
Charlie: ... April Fools!
/I expect things like "the scoreboard has a different font" and "Pat's tie disappears for a round", etc.

That's what I was thinking. Nothing nearly as elaborate as everyone suggests. Maybe a pound sign on a few wedges as a gag.
-
I think the better challenge would be figuring out how many of the 10 were added in post.
-
They'll probably make little changes like they did with "Price" last April Fools Day. For instance, the WOF Logo might be backwards in the opening credits.
I don't expect to see Chuck/Rolf/Bob hosting the first three rounds respectively, lol

Let's put it this way -- I came in expecting something really obvious and noticeable, not ten things that were all added in post-production only to appear for one-and-a-quarter seconds.

I did see one persistent change, both Bankrupt wedges were misspelled. That'd be very hard to do in post-prod

I noticed that Pat Sajak is wearing an earring. Could that be one of the April Fools' Jokes?

I wonder if a better set of gags could have been planned. Zachary Taylor as a special guest? Or misspelling "Honorable" as "Horanoble"? They probably had a whole bunch of ideas but touched on only a few due to time constraints. Pat himself might have had a few ideas during the taping; however tonight's episode (like most) was heavily edited and would not show too many shenanigans.

And the official answers:
[list=1]
- Pat and Vanna entered in the opposite order in the intro.
- Pat, Vanna, and Charlie were the contestants in the first pan shot
- Vanna stood on the wrong side of the board at the start of round 1
- The Bankrupts were misspelled
- Pat had an earring for a short moment
- Charlie introduced the third puzzle
- The Final Spin was from a 1992 episode.
- Pat changed his suit for the bonus round
- Pat and Vanna were in the audience when the winner's family was introduced
- Pat and Vanna had nametags at the end of the show.
-
I thought I got 5, but I got 4- there was a bullriding sequence in the opening Hawaii shot montage, and I thought that was one of them.

I thought that Wheel could have done considerably more to celebrate the day -- the only things that weren't obviously done in post-production were the Pat/Vanna reversal walkout, the BANKRUT spaces, Pat's earring, and his suit change for the Bonus Round.
Other than those, and the stuff done in post-production (possibly including the closing segment -- my affiliate decided to do a mini-screen to talk about some news), it may as well have been a normal episode.
/Which, quite possibly, it was.

Seems to me like they did plenty.
I'd ask what you would have suggested that didn't mess with the actual play of the game (since that's seriously unfair to those three contestants), but I'm still recovering from a Muse concert last night and I don't think my forehead could stand the facepalm.

I don't see what all the big fuss is about all the April Fool's Gags on Thursday's WOF being added in post-production. So what? That didn't keep from enjoying it. I think April Fools' Day brings out the best in both of Merv Griffin's shows.

Same here. Like I said in another thread, to literally insert all the gags they used (going with a normal taping schedule) would've caused a ton of stop downs. The shots of Pat and Vanna in the audience and Pat in another suit probably added on enough extra time to the taping. The other stuff? Silly little gags that no one would notice, except for those here, and maybe those who know a little something about editing.
It's really not THAT obvious...I mean, I've worked in TV and can spot a post-production edit, and it never even hit me here for two reasons. 1) It was done so smoothly that I didn't even notice (like so many other over-produced shows), and 2) I actually got a big laugh out of some of the edits, post-prod. or live to tape.

My issue with the April Fools episode wasn't whether or not the changes were added in post, but more that the changes were incredibly trivial. Pat and Vanna switching places when they enter? Vanna standing on the left side of the board instead of the right? Who shives a git?

I guess I'm just glad that they did SOMETHING, although I did like Jeopardy's AFD changes better.
By the time the show started, I gave up on any chance on any vintage theme/host/video being edited in. Final Spin was definitely unexpected, but was a pleasant surprise.

Credit where it's due. That wasn't bad. :)
-
I'll admit, them proclaiming "Hey, this is our April Fools show!" right at the outset kinda spoiled the fun a tad.
But, overall, I liked the fact they tried to make it a game with a "How many did you figure out?" angle.
Jeopardy's try at it was completely unexpected, so I enjoyed that immensely.

The blue letters are not new. Watch an episode from earler in the season. I think it's a tech problem not not the work of the producers.

I picked off six of 'em, and wasn't sure whether it was unusual for Vanna to have to cross in front of Pat to make her walk to the puzzle board. I do not feel bad for not noticing Vanna starting a round on the wrong side of the puzzle -- I apparently haven't been watching enough to know that was a "rule."
It was fun seeing how many I could find, and BANKRUT made me chuckle every time it came into the shot (too bad nobody landed on one -- I wanted to see if the monitors would follow suit). Nicely done, "Wheel."

I didn't get it immediately, but after a few rounds, I was able to decode that it was one of the 10.
The triviality of the gags was part of the challenge and probably why they told you at the outset. Just because they didn't go over the top doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

A. Mike. You aren't one of my students.
B. You're failing.
Someone mentioned lurking before you jump whole hog into the forum. Dunno if you did that. If not, you should have. (Looking at your join date versus your first post's date, I'd say no.) Also, coming here and spewing information ad nauseum will not make many friends here. Coming here and spewing information ad nauseum and giving credit to someone who posted it as a comment on Buzzerblog will make you even less friends. There are enough resources online and offline in which we can find the same information you're spouting. In short, don't be a frickin' walking encyclopedia who feels pity for himself and is trying way WAY too hard to be liked by the board's members. Listen too. Time will tell if you're adept at that.

I was trying to be polite, sir. I try not to have, show, or imply animosity towards those who hold a higher position than I in the corporate world.
/which would be pretty much everybody, then

I'm not higher than you, nor am I lower than you. The only people around here with any more status than you or I are Matt and Chris. Never have I seen you address anybody else by their last name. In other words, cut the BS.

. . .
Getting back on discussion, I'm wondering what Wheel will do for 2011 -- just one suggestion, though, and that is not to announce that it's April Fool's Day. That kind of defeats what April Fool's Day on a game show normally is -- everybody acting like it's just business as usual, despite that gigantic elephant over there wearing eye shadow.

You're nuttier than a damn fruitcake. Take Run DMC's advice (http://\"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EheLN-MDzrA#t=3m38s\").

Wheel is probably the other game show I have been watching lataly I keep missing the others. That werid camera angle on Vanna with the board at angle what's up with that? The big lighted spaces on the wheel? are they going to make a wheel with all lighted spaces. I wonder why the contestants relatives aren't standing at the railing during bonus round anymore? I noticed Pat and Vanna entering on opposite sides and then sitting in the audience but I didn't notice the other things wrong on April 1.
