Another edition of the "CNN Quiz Show" (three teams of two CNN personalities play for charity; Anderson Cooper hosts) was supposed to air on 2/15 at 9 PM Eastern, but CNN aired a live news hour with Don Lemon and didn't even mention the pre-emption, even though the CNN website's Quiz Show page still lists the 2/15 airing date.
Anybody hear an "official" explanation why? I don't think it's just because they needed Yet Still Even Another Hour to talk about the controversy over replacing Scalia. I'm also pretty sure that it was recorded before Scalia died, so it's probably not a problem of "the contestants were busy." Here's one possibility: for whatever reason, Scalia was mentioned in one of the questions, and somebody decided to postpone it out of respect.

I would suspect you hit the nail on the head: there was a question about the Supreme Court or Scalia. They must have shelved it quietly to avoid a reveal of the game content for the later airing.

Or maybe CNN is choosing to do its primary job, which is to be a news channel and to report the news...

Eh...that line got blurred a few years ago, to be honest. They've been TMZ Lite for a while now.
Was this a current events-based show? If so, Don's theory makes sense.

Like reporting on the Malaysian air crash some more?

I may be overreaching here but I don't see what the big deal is. An important figure in American politics, regardless of whether one liked him or not, died.

I don't think it's an overreach or anything. He died, the show possibly had a question about him and didn't air because of it. Open and shut case. :-)

The fact that you refer to his field as "politics" (he was supposed to be a fair and impartial judge) should tell you all you need to know as to why including material about him on that program might be polarizing.

I thought it was HLN that turned into TMZ Lite
(Nancy Grace can die in a woodchipper accident for all I care.)

That's what I was gonna say. On the first front at least. (Nancy Grace long ceased to be relevant to me.)

The show airs this Monday (2/22).

She ever was?
