What "Pyramid" theme song do you like better? The original "Tuning Up" used from 1973 until 1981, or the remake used from 1982 to '92

The 1980's remake, without question. Possibly the greatest game show theme ever.

Definitely $25,000 Pyramid's theme. The theme fits the show like a glove. There's nothing like that explosive opening blast when somebody wins the $25,000. Much more upbeat and cheery than the original.

I certainly think it's in the running for the greatest theme ever. Close call between that and TPiR.

Tuning up. Period. Phenomenal song.

The 80's version didn't do it for me.

Was there even a discenable song to the 90s version?

The "noise" from Donny Pyramid...
Just kidding.
Another vote for 80's Pyramid. Near perfection. They took a good theme and made it great.

Got to be Ken Aldin's "Tuning Up." Nothing beats that psychedelic electric guitar solo!

I like the guitar riffs from the earlier version...the other one gets too repetitive.

Yeah, I'll echo your sentiments.  The original Tuning Up is a more interesting piece of music, but the Cobert remake is a better as a game show theme.

The better song for the format was the Cobert composed theme though I love Tuning Up as well.  I actually don't mind the second season Donnymid theme, which actually made use of a real instrument, an electric guitar.

And by "theme" you mean "extended sting", right? :)

Yes...now if you'll excuse me it's back to looping the off air copy of the '04 New Year's Rockin' Eve theme, lol.

Tuning Up.

Although, I loved that rarely-heard bass part at the end of the 80s theme (only on first season eps.).

The bass part was used quite frequently on the Davidson version during the closing, IIRC.

What they said about the first being a better piece of music, and the second being a better piece of game show music. (I love that bombastic bit with the horns about halfway through the 70s version.)
