Also, (since I forgot to mention this) those in the Pittsburgh Area will miss Thursday's show, as WPXI will be doing local Steelers pre-game coverage.  Try not to be too disappointed. [/sarcasm]
I heard that the Steelers pre-game show is the only one in the NFL which lasts 5 hours since the TV guys talk very slowly and use monosyllabic words so yinz can understand them.

/Browns-Steelers smack talk is fun even though the Browns get pummeled by the Steelers time after time.

The sarcasm was directed at those who wanted to see Ken Jennings lose again, as if it hasn't been shown everywhere at least 8 times.

I'd try to provide a witty retort but a) I have no love for Pittsburgh's local TV outside of Hometown High Q and 2) Mike's right.

Looks like they are digging in the archives, and running the "DVD" shows. Tonight's show is show 1 from 1984 with brief segments from Alex.

Watched it; recommend others watch, if just for the info bits that start each segment.

Also, in a shrewd bit of companion programming, it seems that WoF will be re-running its Countdown to Ep 5000 week.

I tell you what, I sure got a kick out of seeing the old intro and the board being set up in motion.  Though all the editing made it a bit tough to follow.

Also, I really don't get why there was applause in the edited credits.  I mean, I can fathom a few reasons, but none of them make any sense.

That wasn't one of my reasons, but it makes more sense than anything I had.

That'd be something I'd try to forget.  :)

No, laziness would have been filling this week by rerunning a Kids' Week tournament from last season.

Or rendering the on-screen closing credits in the current style, rather than that imitation of the 1984 version.

This was not literally a rerun of a show from 1984, this was a 2009 presentation of a show from 1984.  Hence, the closing theme went with the 2009 presentation, not the 1984 show -- and so it was the modern theme, with canned applause.
