MG 74/77 weekend shows
« on: July 10, 2005, 06:36:12 PM »
When I last watched these a couple of weekends ago, they were in early 74 and late 77.  But now they seem to be in Aug. 74 and July 78?

The 3:30 daily MG has been showing the series in order for at least 2 1/2 years now, through MG74, 75, 76, and 77.  So to jump ahead several months makes no sense.  MG78 just aired last year (in a morning airing, as I recall), I don't see the need to jump into it again.

Is there a reason for these changes, or is it yet another unannounced unplanned GSN screwup?

The 3:30pm daily airing also has jumped ahead to MG78.

I think they're just trying to keep the schedule closer to real life.  These episodes are from July.  It is July now.....    Kind of stupid since they didn't tape shows year-round and the schedule is going to get messed up some time anyway.  (especially with MG airing 7 days a week)   But nothing we can do about it.

Has GSN given an explanation anywhere?  I'd even settle for something leaked through the Perfesser.

Actually, two other shows in the lineup made the same jump to July 4th airdates on July 4th, so start imagining.

Speaking of Match Game, I've noticed GSN's cycle of 9:00 AM (EDT) weekday morning repeats of Season 3 of the daytime syndie version (1981-1982) is in its home stretch; i.e., its final 2 weeks. We are currently within the next-to-last week of shows, which sees the final appearance of MG regs Bart Braverman and Marcia Wallace.

The next-to-last week will end on Monday, and the final week on Monday 8/1.  After that, who knows?

Again, I've gotta ask.  Has anyone - anyone - gotten a real explanation from GSN about the random jumps in the schedule?  I used their next-to-useless web site to ask, and got back a form-letter answer about possibilities like damaged tapes, lack of clearance/permission to air episodes, etc.  None of which apply to this situation.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.  GSN could operate like TV Land, publishing air dates on the web.  But they choose not to, in fact they choose to do exactly the opposite sometimes.  They take a series like MG which has aired in its original order for YEARS, and simply screw it up, with no explanation even to those who notice and ask about it.

Until 2001, they did do this. And then, their site underwent an "upgrade" and it's been lists only ever since.

And I also notice something that in the coming up next promos, they don't show pacific times anymore. I don't know why GSN doesn't show pacific times for their coming up next promos anymore but it has been ever since last year as well.

It's because they have a West Coast feed now.

Esoteric Eric - I don't mind the three-hour difference in the sked, mind you, since it means I can catch the morning MG (6 AM) and TTTT (6:30) while getting ready for work, and the occasional late shows (MG PM (just replaced by WB$M) @ 11 PM, another MG @ 11:30, and B&WO from midnight to 1 AM)

EDIT 07.23.05:  Only found out last night that The New Ben & Gene Hour (2 AM ET) is down to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on the current GSN schedule.  That is all.

And I also notice that you posted yet another irrelevant comment.

One thing that GSN used to do, which I'd like to see them do again, is show a "recorded date" at the beginning of each of their shows.  For example, if an episode of "Blockbusters" came on, at the beginning they'd super a little bug that stated "Recorded Oct 1980"; or in some cases it might say "Aired Oct 1980".

I miss that.

Something tells me that digital customers just get the Eastern/Central feed--that it's the only GSN feed on HITS.  Analog Comcast customers may get the West Coast feed where applicable.
