Not sure on if Redenbacher was on classic WML, but he was on early 70s TTTT before his national exposure started kicking in. Colonel Sanders did WML pre-KFC.

Thom and Jenny were suggested for B&E's new show which involved competing couples, mmm? Wonder how long the McKee pair would have lasted on Play The Percentages.

I think McKee's run on TTD lasted a few weeks longer than the couples format of PtP, the latter lasted for eight weeks.

And one photo was submitted by our own Tammy Warner.
Actually, Steve e-mailed me asking if he could use my snap from Thom's final TTD appearence (which, BTW, is part of my tribute to the Winkster) for his interview. He even gave me credit!

That's what sprung into mind when I heard the name. :)
With apologies to Mike Klauss :-)

Would this be the pic? I believe it was in Come On Down.
That's the one!

One item of note is that Enright originally wanted Thom and wife Jenny to appear on Play the Percentages (McKee mentions it as a \"couples game that didn't last too long\")...imagine how different things would've been had the original plans worked out, much like Apple's classic \"1984\" Macintosh ad seen only during that yr's Super Bowl, which was originally supposed to run during a college game(!).

Yes, we were discussing that five and a half hours ago, when Don mentioned it.

I was happy that  SB got the facts right.  I have read way too many accounts of Thom McKee that misspelled his name, gave an incorrect total, or gave an incorrect car count ...

I have vivid memories of watching this as a kid and seeing $312,700 across the bottom of the screen when he finally lost.  It's one of those images you just don't forget.

Wasn't his appearance on Ward's TTTT the second ep of the series from fall 1980? Couldn't have been a couple *years* later....maybe a few months. If I'm right, the ep aired September 9th 1980.

------

According to records I kept at the time, the season premiere of \"Tic Tac Dough\" originally aired on September 1, 1980.  The episode where Thom was finally defeated ran on September 15, 1980.  I think by then \"Tic Tac\" was airing at the same time in every city, but if it wasn't, then it's possible that it could have been a couple of weeks later in some areas.

Interestingly enough, old copies of TVGuide from around that time had pictures of Thom on their \"Tic Tac Dough\" ads, stating something like \"how long will he keep winning\".

I think he learned his lesson after the You Don't Say! '75 fiasco.

Not to mention many reference books have stated different years; I've seen 1978, 1980, and 1982 all listed as the years Thom appeared. :-/

I'm ALWAYS happy when SB gets a fact right. It doesn't happen all that often, after all. ;)
