This happened to be the last Match Game PM episode ever taped.

As per Matchgame.org, the final aired(and taped) episode taped the next day. The Klugman episode taped 12/27/80, the last taped episode aired 12/28/80
I was hoping they'd show the premiere again... I seem to miss it whenever it comes on.  Dammit.
Me, too. My newly installed imitation-Tivo from the cable company hadn't started taping yet.

Does anybody know if they're rerunning the marathon, or at least that episode?

From the way some of the people on the show were talking (and, I believe, from what has been said in this group previously...anyone want to correct me?), I think they were aware.

The regs were aware renewal for 1982-83 was not likely. THere were no official goodbyes on Syndicated Game SHows until the late 80s(I'm thinking Davidson HS was the first syndie game show to do a blatant goodbye in the final first-run episode). In the early 80s, the practice on Syndie game shows was that the shows would be taped a few months before word of renewal or non-renewal came about. MG's lagging in popularity in the post-CBS years(and the dwindling ratings and time slots for it in an already game show axing-heavy era), didn't make renewal likely for 1982-83, and Charles' end of show chant of \"Thank you, Gene, Thank you, Thank you\" was the most blatant hint of it being the likely last show.
