The E-V RE50 is almost universally used today for ENG (remote pickup) applications. It consists of a 635A encased in a second, outer casing and isolated by a layer of neoprene. This gives the 635A additional resistance to external shock.

Has the official date for that been set yet? Having just been in L.A. two months prior to the last one, I didn't avail myself of the opportunity to go. But I'm strongly considering going in 2005, depending on schedule.

Nope. Those are the Sony ECM-53s you see in the TTD pic. The small gray mics on Pyramid were Schoeps mics called Colettes. Colette is a modular system of pickup heads, cables, mounts and stands configurable in countless ways. Here's more than you ever wanted to know about Colettes. It looked as if Pyramid, around 1984 and 1985, used pressure-zone mics before they switched to the Colettes in early '86, no?

Re 635A: They don't call 'em Hammers for nothin'.

I can also name a few shows that Jeopardy! mic was seen on- it was also seen on the Newlywed Game (1996 version), The New Hollywood Squares (with John Davidson), and the Dating Game (late 80s version).

I've seen Elton John and The Beatles use an older silver version in some live footage of theirs.

The Feud mics look more like these Schoeps mics. And I STILL can't find a pic of that other mic.

I know this is a gooseneck mic, but if that part of it was taken off, and it was used just as a handheld, it would look a lot better than TPIR one Bob currently has, and actually looks similar to the previous black one that he used.

I work at a local television station, and seems like we are slowly getting rid of our old sony lavs in favor of AKG equipment.

Also, i have purchased an ecm-31 off ebay. It seems to be the step below the ecm-51. Was wondering if it had a windscreen like the 51, since the actual head of the microphone looks like that of lavs which had the same windscreen, like the one Dawson used on FF. i think the ecm-56 or 76 or something.

The GSC organizers say they will again be at the Burbank Hilton in August, but there are details still to be firmed. As they tell it:

... Probably should be on the weekend before Labor Day, 2005 - we should get confirmation soon - trying to work with the Burbank Hilton, but they are having some construction issues at that time...

The Jeopardy microphone

I happened to notice this microphone on SNL and MadTV-
The SNL skit in question was from 1986, and was called Quiz Masters, and the other was from MadTV's 2002-03 Season Premiere, and one of the skits was "All-Star American Idol"- and those mics are there!
