TV/comic-book writer Mark Evanier on the movie, and PYL in general -- including the fact that Mark Evanier pitched a movie version of Michael Larson's story fairly soon after his appearance as a contestant (and Bill Carruthers had someone in mind to play Michael Larson in the movie at the time).

That Carruthers thought of that particular actor for the part is another reminder of how much older Larson seemed than his actual age.

For sure. I saw the episodes first-run, and at the time I thought for sure he was in his 50s. I think he was only 35 at the time.
