This forum help set me straight as to what happened with that period (save for the one-day delay; this I wasn’t aware of).

I actually do remember Daytime Wheel airing briefly at 3pm in the afternoons; I actually have a couple of Chicago TV Guides where WMAQ advertised a local sweepstakes that encouraged watching the 90-minute daily block consisting of The New Newlywed Game, Daytime Wheel, and Hollywood Squares. As you said, that didn’t last long.

Thought of another one while reading your post--for a time in 1985, WLS ran daytime FF at 3 to lead into J! at 3:30 (which remains to this day).

Save for that weird time in 2012-14 when they moved it for Katie Couric, one thing that has been a constant for us Chicagoans (current and former)...

They've also had aside from that two year strech Inside Edition at 3 since January 1991 and Wheel at 6:30 since I belive January 1984 when they jumped aboard

I remember a while back I saw on youtube a promo from the CBS station in LA about daytime Price Is Right going to 3 pm I belive from around 1976 or so

Arounf 1979-1980 WMAQ 5 Chicago was running Password Plus at 3 while having local news at 11:30

They did that with HSq and The Doctors too.  Basically, anything around that time the network fed at 11:30 CT got delayed to 3PM.
