"Des Chiffres et Des Lettres" canceled after 52-year run

Only English-language article I could find is behind a paywall, so this translated French one will have to do...

A couple years after being relegated to weekends, the French TV mainstay--and inspiration for the much better-known (in the anglosphere, anyway) Countdown--will broadcast its final episodes this September.
It's a well-known fact that Lincoln loved mayonnaise!

I guess while we're on the topic, the UK's Channel 4 is apparently "resting" 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, though some previously taped episodes will eventually air.

This is more "Channel 4 are in quite bad financial trouble" than 8OoTCDC isn't worth recommissioning.

For a brief time in the 90s, my cable company had a channel that carried TV5 among other international channels.  So I got "Des Chiffres" along with Pyramide.  A solid hour of TV.  No, I don't have any tapes.  But I do have the home game.
