Vestaboard

A former coworker just posted his latest toy to Facebook. Sure to make game show fans happy. It's a big, old-school, flip-type message board to hang on your wall. Only $3k.

Cool! Our local brewery has a much smaller one that changes in real time anytime someone follows them on Facebook.

And because I’m a big kid, I followed, unfollowed, and re-followed just to watch the numbers change. :)

One of these things?

Six rows of 22 alphanumeric characters each. Lots of word games could be played on that!

It starts with word, there's a G underneath

Bumping this to share that they're coming out with a new, slightly more affordable model soon called the Vestaboard Note. Three rows of fifteen characters each.

I've seen these. I've seen their price. But I love the potential.

Wonder what they could do with a Ferranti-Packard style board.

Holy crap, still a thousand dollars? (I had no idea the big ones were thirty-five hundy. That's insane.)

I was looking into 3D printing just a single one of the modules. Turns out it's quite doable if you have the time. A lot of time. On my printer (which is damn fast) my back-of-napkin math suggests a single character would take about 24 hours to print. :) (That's 26 letters / 10 digits / space.)

I saw one in a “coffee shop” in Amsterdam. If one partook, this thing would keep you riveted for hours.

If you want a smaller version, a rival company (that may or may not have furnished Game Changer on a recent episode) has a 5-digit custom setup for $479.

If one partook, this thing would keep you riveted for hours.
My dude, I would be drier than Death Valley and still find it riveting.
This signature is currently under construction.
