So, "2048" (http://gabrielecirulli.github.io/2048/) is apparently A Thing.

Therefore, there is also "2048 Numberwang":

Join the numbers and get to the 14872 (or the 15842 or whatever it chooses to tell you) tile! Let’s play Numberwang!

This is actually a pretty fun game. It has a nice addiction factor to it. :)

The "Threes" mechanic is going to be the Match 3 of the next five years. I simply can't wait to see the tired rereads a year from now.

(That said, I'm going to enjoy it now while it's still a little fresh.)

Spent probably a good 3 or 4 hours straight on it last night. Anyone here who's played it been able to beat it yet? Best I've done is get up to a 512 block...

I finally won yesterday after playing two or three games a day for the past week.

Good to know, at least it is winnable. Tough, but doable.

In the week after I bought it, I'm sure Threes jumped onto the medal podium of games I played, and now it's fallen off. I like the strategic nature of it as well as the fact that it's a quiet and minimalist endeavor.

Question for people who have played 2048 on different platforms:

On the iPod version I downloaded, if you get three of the same number in a row and then attempt to compress those, it compresses all three of them down into a single tile and bumps it a level. For example, 2 2 2 resolves to an 8, 4 4 4 resolves to a 16, etc.

On the Windows Phone version I have, that doesn't work: 2 2 2 resolves to 2 4, 4 4 4 resolves to 4 8.

Anyone know which one is "right?" I guess what I'm asking is whether people have seen the three-tiles-to-one behavior in whatever version they prefer.

In the version I play on my desktop browser (Internet Explorer 11), 2 2 2 resolves to 2 4. I've never seen the 'three-to-one' behavior you've mentioned in what I'm playing.
