G/T Question

<< < (2/2)

Jimmy Owen:
There were never seasons for network daytime game shows back in the day. Usually show anniversaries would be celebrated, and reruns were almost never aired. I would usually keep my eye on TV Guide at the end of each quarter and if the show made it thirteen weeks, I came to know it would be on for another thirteen. So in a sense, 13 weeks was the yardstick for me.  The two or three weeks before or after Jan 1, Apr 1, July 1 and Oct 1 were the ones to worry about.  In additon to those mentioned, "Get the Message" lasted less than a year (and Robert Q supplanted Frank Buxton.)

I think it did last a full year.

Your game show has to stink horrendously for it not to last a year in syndication.  Even MG'98 lasted a year.  And we all know CS'01 didn't... because it was just that bad.

Most around here won't say Catch Phrase stunk, and it got pulled at mid-season. Ditto for the original Lingo(the legal problems and lack of station interest is what killed that one)

Let's not forget what led to the original Lingo's downfall: Everyone hated the No-Lingo Round!

Speak for yourself, not for the group.  I thought the bonus game worked pretty well.

There are also some games that shouldn't have lasted a season, but that's my opinion.
