TPIR Announce Question (for Randy?)

EDIT: Just as an aside, it occured to me a moment ago as I listened to Randy do the ticket plug on today's show, that while Randy was good from the start, his delivery has improved even MORE since he's been doing it regularly. Randy, you sounded incredibly comfortable behind the mic today and they would be foolish not to give you the gig full-time. Here's to hoping that 2004 is the Year Of Randy West! :)
I have to agree with Chris on this 100%. I wasn't too sure what to think of Randy before, but he most definitely improved, and is now my favorite candidate for the permanent job. Nice work, Randy!
Burton is quite boring and has absolutly no enthuism and energy. Randy is full of energy and very fun. How long is Randy's current announcing tenor going to last? I wonder if Burton reads the board also, it would be funny to see how jealous he is that almost everyone here probably likes Randy the best.
I think both Randy and Burton have their own levels of energy for TPiR, however, Burton is just a bit *too* enthusiastic, almost as if he's trying too hard to be like Johnny Olson or Rod. TPiR seems to require a certain style of announcing, one which Randy handles very well.
Not to say Burton is a bad announcer, he does just fine on Feud, and I liked his low, dramatic style on Russian Roulette, but TPiR is just not his thing. SIDE: was Burton the announcer on WinTuition?
gameshowguy2000:
Yep he was.
And I choose Burton to be the new TPIR announcer, because he announced TNPIR '94.
If he did well there, he'll do well with the daytime version, too.

Exactly our point. He DIDN'T do well there. He puked (announcerspeak for talking without using the diaphragm) and was overenthusiastic there as well.
But you're certainly entitled to an opinion.
Neumms:
I agree with Chris. Burton is terrific, great on Gordon Elliott's TTTT, great on Russian Roulette, but doesn't quite fit the vibe on TPIR. Other great announcers, Gene Wood and Johnny Gilbert, for example, didn't and wouldn't either.
Good luck, Randy! I'm used to you already.
